Staff can be very collaborative and there is a lot of sharing ideas and issues. The kids generally are good. School does a lot with a little. However, they did take away the math class one day a week to make up for a scheduling problem which did not help teaching. Also, very lenient about cheating and when a student damages school property. The pressure is to lower level of instruction, reduce homework and shorten tests and quizzes. Also, most academics are below regents level and it shows come June. The pressure is to keep grades up during the year, sometimes at the expense of content within a course

The hardest part of the job is behavior management with the children, if that is something that you are not used too. The WORC program was a great opportunity to incorporate occupational therapy services to the whole school.

You work without a contract. Administration is at odds with the staff.Policy can change without notice. Heavy turnover of staff. Students are not held accountable after major incidents.

Working here I gained a larger respect for parents and learned a little better about how to handle children, tools of multiple trades, and some money management.
