Better pay for work, two days off no matter what the market looks like and get home at a decent hour and when PTO is requested we have a chance of getting it. Having equipment in the warehouse (one of the most frustrating things). My Managment on the lower level was good willing to help however techs are getting burnt out and need a break that's why so many techs are quitting in the Rochester NY market. I liked working at Mastec AT but, I was getting burnt out. I would have stayed if I had two days off a week no matter what (did not have to be consecutively) and could take some pto that was always denied. There are a lot of frustrating things with this job, however, I was totally willing to put up with them. I was getting burnt out and had to to do what was best for me and my family.

My worst experience as an employee in my career. This the current management and culture breeds a poisonous atmosphere. Plainview site manager has a chip on his shoulder and is constantly under audit by AT&T. This presents real pressure which trickles down to low level employees.

Was forced to take jobs under unsanitary conditions. Not paid unless job was closed, even if circumstances were beyond techs control, (no line of site, customer cancels, equipment for work order not provided, incorrect work order etc.) No pay for travel time. Weekly mandatory morning meetings at 6am in Plainview, (I had to leave my house before 5am.)

Service calls pay 25.00 (gross) regardless of distance traveled. No choice of jobs. Must work in heavy down pours. Because pay is piece rate Mgr nit picks jobs for excuse not to pay workers. I worked full time and netted a little over 10k for 2007.

*COMPANY OUTSOURCES TO TRAVEL TECHS from upstate NY to South Carolina so they can pay less and treat employees poorly, then tells full time techs "there's not enough work."

Extremely high turnover rate among all employees. I worked there 10 months and everyone I trained with quit within the first week of being in the field. Trainers all quit within time I was there. Supervisor was let go Dec first. I was then let go a week before Christmas. :-)

If I can help one person this is worth posting. Do not work here. Ask anyone who's been there after training. MasTec sucks!

High school interns were not drug tested, however the college ones were. I do not know whether or not they were notified upon their drug test's arrival.
