Management is relaxed but you do the job of multiple people
Lead Loader (Current Employee) –  Tualatin, ORMarch 11, 2019
On a typical day I do the work of 3+ people. Promotion is promised but never delivered because of corporate greed. Workplace is under staffed and overworked because you just aren't efficient enough to match a computer generated number that is mathematically impossible with the equipment provided.
Pros
Payed well and have great benefits
Cons
If 1 person is sick or on vacation the whole production crew is crippled

Supervisor and Inside Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXFebruary 27, 2019
I could write a book about how terrible this company became when the current CEO took over, Upper management will all but tell you they don't care about the employees or customers. Making budget is there only concern. They are always restructuring commissions to make it so the company doesn't have to pay them.Compared to other large company in the same industry they pay the lowest wage. Middle managers are told to work 12-14 hour days and weekends to meet deadlines. Employees with substantial experience are released because they are being paid to much, but will be give a different reason(s) as to why they are being let go and replaced with inexperienced employees to save money.
Pros
Benefits, good employee discount

The biggest issue I see is the turnover. It is hard to successfully do your job when the company runs very lean in the first place but when you have constant turnover it really puts the pressure on everyone.

Account manager (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXFebruary 20, 2019
Matheson is a good company. It demands a lot of its sales team but does give them the resources to get the job done. Management does its best to communicate the overall plan and current situations within the company. This industry is very tough so be prepared to always go above and beyond.
Pros
Professional work environment
Cons
Nature of the industry

Fast growing company with resources that are lagging behind to help support sales and service staff. Management is good to work with. Heavily competitive industry.

Horrible senior management
Production Technician (Current Employee) –  Toledo, OHFebruary 12, 2019
The VP has his hands in everything, to the point of contacting production techs directly. The micromanagement at this organization is extreme to say the least. Senior management is part of the old school "good'ol boys club," in how they protect even the most crooked of individuals. Promises are never kept, like bonuses, pay raises, etc..
Pros
None

Micromanagement

They have been good to me, I just need a change. The benefits are very good and many of the employees are good to work with. The hardest part of the job was the content travel in that I still have children at home.

bobtail driver (Current Employee) –  Falls Creek, PADecember 14, 2018
management is awful they do what they can to screw the drivers over even though the drivers are what makes them their money! they are high on safety but put policies in place to protect them and hang the driver! they say the drive cams are there to help but they use them to take away bonuses and give you unpaid time off! I wouldnt recommend this company to my worse enemy. STAY AWAY!

The job itself was not bad but the pau had gone stagnant for a number of years. The industrial gas delivery could kind of beat you up in the summer months and the propane service could beat you up for hours in the winter

Operations Manager (Former Employee) –  New Johnsonville, TNNovember 6, 2018
MAtheson is a good company that leaks forward thinking. They could easily be a big player but the leadership team cannot get out the teams way. They had good people but didn't want to listen and leadership drove them away.

Good job as long as you're knowledgeable, the company takes pretty good care of you. I wish I wouldn't have ever left that place I'd go back if I could.

Job security is not high but other than that it’s a great company and good place to work. I feel as though at times management can be back and fourth on there decisions. But the company does stand behind there drivers in an attempt to make the safest workplace possible

Level III Chemical Operator (Former Employee) –  Longmont, COSeptember 11, 2018
It was a Chemical Plant working 12 hour shifts rotating in between days, and the graveyard shift every two weeks. The pay was decent at the time but quality of life was hard to sustain due to the rotating shifts with family.
Pros
14 days off a week due to 12 hour shifts

Cryogenic Service Technician (Former Employee) –  MichiganSeptember 11, 2018
Bought too many locations without the manpower to properly take care of the customers. Bought systems and sites without proper due dilligence. Far too slow to admit there is a problem. Have some policies that are carried over from other positions which do not fit the positions they have tried to apply them to. Almost zero experience in middle management about the actual equipment and services required.
