At Mavis you have to beat daily/ weekly goals set the previous year. If those goals are met than you can get bonuses and great commission. The thing I disliked most was pushing promotions to people who could not afford the service. Imagine going to Mavis because you need a flat tire fixed and they try to sell you brakes all the way around. Or they tell you that you also need a battery. Customers would always get mad about "up-selling"
Pros
Weekly pay
Cons
Constantly pushing promotions

Had a great team to work with. Manager and co-workers were awsome, but HR was pretty lame. HR didn't care about employees when a question needed to be answered. Most of the higher up managers didn't seem to care about employees and only care about sales and customers. No raises or chances to move up. Best part working there was working with the team. If the team isn't on the same page, then there's no productivity going on in the workplace.
Pros
Co-workers
Cons
Lack of Communication

This is by far one of the worst companies to get involved with period. If you like having corporate constantly feeding you lies thinking you're moving up in the company, meanwhile it's just all apart of their little scheme they have going on, then don't get involved. This job is only good for beginner techs who need to get some hands on work in a shop for a little while, after that I strongly advise to take your skills somewhere else, otherwise you will be stuck in the process of being fed lies thinking that they actually care about you lol. Almost every tech that works at Mavis is right from highschool or has little to no experience whatsoever. The techs that know what they're doing don't want anything to do with you and are only their for a paycheck. As a manager, Corporate insists that you to rip people off and sell them services that aren't actually done correctly. It's a complete joke and no one take your vehicle here because it's not in good hands!
Pros
None
Cons
Poor corporate management

If you're unfortunate enough to work here, all I can tell you is get out before you get in an abusive relationship with your job. If you want to start in the industry and you want to learn hands on you can get a start here and you can get credibility, but don't expect to go anywhere. I have worked at 3 of my local stores because they're all so understaffed they constantly need help. You can expect co workers that could care less about anything and managers that see you as property with no rights.

The higher up boses need to get their heads out of their a-!ses. They say sell even if it doesn’t need it. Poor business Terrible place to work. They work you to much and expect high numbers but don’t pay well and employees never get lunches because they are worked too hard.
Pros
None
Cons
Bosses are terrible. Micromanaging at its finest.

Work here if you like being over worked and under paid. And forget it if you get COVID with this company they will turn their back and act like they don’t know. You DONT get compensated for your missed time with COVID like most places. Also was told that I won’t get hazard pay cause I should be happy I have a job in the first place. Overall 0/10 working here and I’m a current employee

This is a horrible place to work. They will hire anyone to work here without any automotive experience. They have daily goals for flushes, shock/struts, alignments, ect. Where you're not actually fixing anybodys car just selling them unnecessary services.

Cons
Fixing other employees mistakes

This job is only good for people who just got out of automotive school or if your trying to get your foot in the industry. This job is really not meant for mechanics who have a lot of experience. The pay is not right. And your doing more than above of what your getting hired for.

They hire people with substance abuse and allow them to work on peoples cars inebriated. We all know with most companies upper management (RD,RTM,etc.) acts like they care about you but you know they really care about their money at the end of the day but they don’t make it obvious. Well not with this company. Upper management tells you they appreciate you one day but then a few days later they make it SO obvious if your doing something wrong it’s hurting their paycheck and the moves and relocations and hour cutting aren’t for the good of the company but for their own paychecks. Not to mention they hide when certain people have tested positive to covid and or tell them not to tell anybody they have it or why they were out and doesn’t even make them do the full 10 days required by the CDC. Wouldn’t recommend this company if you want to feel appreciated and like they at least care about your well being.
Pros
Weekly pay
Cons
Lies and hides Covid positive employees, Hours get cut when your not making them money, No training

You’re expected to provide your own tools have previous knowledge, but will get paid less than someone who scans groceries for target. You really don’t get paid enough for the jobs we do. My manager is great friend and person, but management sucks.
Pros
If you’re in the right shop, the environment is cool. Bunch of dudes working on cars.
Cons

I worked for the company for a while in three different locations as a tech then a mechanic then a manager... Honestly, its about your own attitude towards the day. If your not happy somewhere, no one is going to jump up and help you so it takes a push to make a change, as much as anyone else I’ve ever worked for. However this company and its business model are so flawed, I’m amazed they do any business at all. They hire people that don’t know a single thing about automotive, but want stores to crank out thousands of dollars in profit per day. They have absolutely ZERO training beyond what managers are expected to tech them and what other employees/techs are supposed to help them with. My point is, there are no training programs when this company is in desperate need of them. If this company wants to keep skilled employees, they need to pony up better pay and train their workers properly!! You have plenty of managers that shaft people so hard, the customers bleed money. Some managers are decent people and know very much what they’re doing. Everyone, for some unknown reason to me, feels a sense of entitlement at this company. People in the automotive industry struggle as it is without EVERYONE constantly whining all day about pay/breaks/workload/etc. If you find a spot with good people, you’ll know it right away. You’ll make some money and be okay where your at. Like any other job, do not let anyone jerk you around about anything! My opinion - a great place to start out, but definitely not for mechanics w/ 5+ years experience. They just don’t want to pay an adequate - more...
Pros
Decent people, good place for beginners, usually accommodating, health benefits/401k, steady paycheck
Cons
Pay is dirt, people hired very unknowledgeable, no formal training beyond the bare minumum

People come and go as they please, and go out and do whatever they want when they're suppose to be working. Manager comes in hours late to work. People discount tickets to the point our techs and mechanics don't make anything from the jobs they do. Continuously put stuff on the board knowing it will not get done then rush the back staff to get it out. Take in so much that people have to stay over what they're scheduled to but then you get nagged at about having over time.
Pros
Good back staff

Certain managers and upper have no respect for employees and make them feel replaceable and like if they don't make numbers everyday you are less than anything to them. It's not terrible as far as benefits but as far as treatment by management if you arnt a a1 employee you dont mean anything to them.
Pros
Benefits, payed time off, flexibility
Cons
Treatment, some management lie to customers

People up front can leave when they want, eat, watch TV, play on their phones, and smoke constantly. Technicians/mechanics can't eat without it being a problem. Up front can do whatever they want but as soon as technicians do something, they threaten to write them up. No help whatsoever, makes the job & work environment 10x harder than it needs to be.
Pros
Pay is ok
Cons
Everything but the pay

If you’re willing to work weekends with no rotational schedule this is your place because they are open 7 days a week plus Thursdays they are open till 830pm. Really awesome right? Pay is super underpaid for the Tire techs $13 an hour plus your commission which is nothing basically working for free. Management is always breathing down your neck. If You see something unsafe in a vehicle you’re supposed to let the customer know. Example swollen lug they are going to completely need to be replaced not here. If you break the lug and put it back together not a safe place. The harder you work the more the managers make and what you get? Nothing go somewhere else
Pros
Co workers easily get along
Cons
Management makes more money the harder you work
