Great place to work if you are young and willing to take on the challenge of building your own book. The work place culture is invigorating and management is very hands on. I have been working here for 2 years and cannot imagine ever doing anything else.

The job certainly isn't for everyone but if you are a motivated self starter and willing to give it your all there is unlimited upside potential.
Pros
You choose your salary

Great office culture
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAApril 13, 2018
the office culture is great, flexible hours, decent training. All commission, difficult to get traction in the industry without having a strong natural market. Have to pay office and tech fee of 275 per month, and if you leave before being there two years, you owe all of your errors and omissions insurance and registration fees that were fronted by the firm on a line of credit in your name (about $2500 after one year). Must be a real go getter and have a little luck as well.
Pros
Unlimited ceiling for income, flexible hours, great office culture
Cons
All commission, expensive to work there, lack of transparency when hired

McAdam is a great organization that will challenge you and push you. They are pretty up-front about how the company culture is and what the expectations are.

Ladder Training with an open architecture environment
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILMarch 28, 2018
My day to day would change constantly depending on client meetings, which take priority over building portfolios, training classes, pursuing prospective clients, ect. I learned a great deal of what full financial planning entails as it is often misrepresented in the industry with regards to just focusing on one area. My manager was key, especially in the beginning, with coaching how to best approach certain individuals, what strategies are more appropriate, and how to build upon my relationships with them. The workplace was very open with a team oriented feel of encouragement. I would say the hardest part of the job would be strengthening your confidence when presenting to higher net worth individuals that are often 2, maybe 3 times older. The most enjoyable part of the job would definitely be the flexibility in terms of traveling to various companies and the experience gained with each meeting/presentation.
Cons
Unorthodox structure, The company has not been around long enough to have the reputation/credibility of most competitors.

young, energetic employees

It is a fun, quick-paced environment. The team is a family and kind. You will laugh every day. You will either sink or swim. It is up to you. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get paid within the first few months. Do not do this job unless you can live without payment for a few months.
Pros
Your own work schedule, fun environment
Cons

Financial Advisor (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PANovember 28, 2017
The workplace can be fun and enjoyable but it all depends on how much you put into it. It is stressful based all on commission and no one is constantly pushing you since it is your future.

Job Summary
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILOctober 9, 2017
Job is very much on your own with the help of management. The pay is a hundred percent commission which makes it very difficult as you start out. Firm makes you pay desk fees and technology fees and does not give you any technology except for a telephone. Have to bring your own laptop to work and you have to pay for absolutely everything. Would not recommend to a student just out of college.

Working in the FA industry is always a challenge. I got my feet wet at Mcadam. I did find the lack of training and lack of guidance for troublesome. I'd just work on that and it would be a much better place to work.

Most of your time will be spent building your own client book. Cold-calling is main source of obtaining clients. Management team is very supportive and upfront with you. You need to work hard and have an entrepreneurial mindset to be successful in the role. Great work culture.

Fun Place to Work, Not very productive
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAJune 26, 2017
McAdam Financial is probably not the place to begin your career if you want to work in the financial services industry. There is no job security since you do not have a salary or any benefits to begin with. It is also hard to acquire clients, and it could take months for you to see your first pay check.
Pros
Co-Workers
Cons

Enjoyed my time at McAdam
Associate (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILApril 18, 2017
McAdam has been a great employer in my time with the company. While they are a new and growing establishment, the vision and track are very good. The management wants to continue its' growth trend, and consistently requests employee feedback in order to keep the company moral high. They strive to build a successful and consistent culture within the company, and have succeeded thus far. I have really enjoyed working for McAdam.

If you are looking for a career in which growth and success are directly related to your performance, this is a great start into the financial services world.

Good management, but commision only
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILApril 5, 2017
Great managers and training. The office is very relaxed in its culture. The biggest downside is the commission only compensation structure can make it difficult when starting.
Pros
Relaxed environment and friendly office culture

Great people and strategy to make money. However very hard to tap into market. Be ready to make many cold calls to people while they are at work and expect to be rejected right away.

Sometimes unorganized, however managers helped to direct what to do, helping guests with questions they have and assist them in finding a solution to their questions and concerns.

Choose your own hours, but pure tele-sales, no guaranteed salary or benefits of any kind
Financial Advisor (Former Employee) –  Boston, MADecember 12, 2016
If you consider yourself a natural salesperson, go for it. Otherwise, you'll spend a lot of time on the phone with people who have no desire to speak to you, and you will only get paid on a commission basis. You'll also be taking home only about half the commissions you generate for the initial several months at the company, and pay fees for the use of a desk, and whatever relatively minimal technology services with which they provide you. Still, there are people there who take home ~$300k pre-tax 3 years out of college, so it depends on your personality and what you make of it
