Run from this job. You will work 7 days a week, and shifts that aren't yours as people randomly don't show up. The jail holds more inmates then they are supposed to, so inmates are never happy.

No breaks, horrible management

Ups and downs

There are many positives to working here if you are a good person and a good worker. Don't even apply if you are short on patience for inmates and co workers. Most problems are working themselves out and 10 hour shifts with 3 day weekends every week are nice.

Much improvement needed

Buddy system is incredibly prevalent. Work experience before working at this jail is irrelevant. They only want bodies to man the undesirable positions and advance friends of administration. They’ve created two unnecessary positions complete with raises for staff in administration, while leaving bulk of floor deputies at uncompetitive wage range. Leadership beyond sgt is virtually nonexistent as far as being seen day to day.

Occasional free donuts if lawyers bring them.

Breaks don’t really exist unless you’re a smoker. Constantly in need of overtime.

Busy Place

There's not enough people to get everything done in a shift. The ratio is supper high and can get someone hurt in time. They prefer the "good ole boy system" if your not in, don't think twice about any type of promotion.

My coworker became life long friends

I enjoyed the people that I worked with. I felt constantly challanged by the work. I felt that ii was helping the inmates to want a better life. I found community resources to help the inmates when they were released.

Challenging but rewarding career field

Corrections is one of the most challenging career fields someone can go into. However, it can also be one of the most rewarding. Through hard work and collaboration you have an opportunity to people bonds like no other.

Great place to figure out what you're made of.

Fun place to work if you can handle the pressure of people constantly yelling, screaming and wanting to fight you. If you don't like confrontation or have good conflict resolution skills you don't need to apply. There isn't a whole lot of training given to you so it would be better if you have previous training in hand to hand combat, handcuffing, report writing and computer skills. But there are a bunch of good people that work there.

Not a boring job.

Not for a career

Poor management and no advancement opportunities! No respect for thier workers unless part of the buddy system care more for the inmates than the employees
