Its not the best not the worst. The company has gone downhill some since the new generation started taking over. There are worse places to work. If you're in the click you're ok.

CMA for Covid protocols

I absolutely love the staff and morals at McKee, although we were only temporary employees they made us feel just as important as a full time permanent employee. All the administrative employees and general staff treated us respectfully and needed.

Just a job

Just a job to stay off unemployment. If your not seventh day Adventist you're already at a disadvantage. Some like it others dont. Keep head down dont talk just work

Pros

Job

Cons

Supervision

Very good place to work

The bad is management favors certain people. If they don’t like you they will try to catch you messing up to fire you. Not all of them but some supervisors and superintendents. Just do your job correctly and with passion and don’t make a target of yourself. This kind of thing happens everywhere.

Pros

Culture and opportunities to advance

Cons

Favoritism

the pay is good management is garbage along with HR bonuses are nice very stressful place

It was okay when I first started in 2013 and the place has been going down hill from there supervision and HR treat you like you are worthless it’s a very stressful place to work very boring old machines that break down all the time they don’t get fixed properly and if you have FMLA they will be looking for ways to get you out management should be held accountable for everything they do and do not do there are screaming matches on the floor people cussing each other out very none professional supervision doesn’t do anything about it I hated working for this place the Mckee’s are awesome I just wish they would be more involved and see what all is actually going on at plant 2

Pros

Pay and bonuses opportunity to grow if you know someone in management

Cons

Management and HR and most people there are rude and two faced very unprofessional place to work

Bad place to work with heavy favoritism

Terrible place to be let alone to work they treat you like a number and not a person. You will be worked until you are burnt out and you will work some more.

Cons

They don’t care about you or your family

Clean and safe workplace

Good pay lots of hours, very family oriented. Hard to get first shift but it just takes time. Great management but HR has room for improvement but overall good

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Short breaks

Easy

Easy job, but full of lazy coworkers and managment. Follow the rules..don’t complain and you’ll be fine. If your line isn’t running you’ll most likely just be sitting on another line doing the same jobs as 3-6 other people (Home is not an option anymore). You will do many of the different jobs in the building on many different lines. You start out on 3rd shift and can only move to 1st after a year of being there

Pros

Easy job, Quick Advancement

Cons

Lazy Management, Lazy Coworkers, 6 Days A Week

Not a very good place to work if you want to move up

McKee's shows a lot of favoritism to people who have been there the longest. Some of them are in management roles and even maintenance even though they're not competent for the position. The pay is not so great, and breaks are super short, very boring job, and full of drama.Overall is an alright place to work not so great as people say.

Pros

Free snacks

Cons

Incompetent management, no paid holidays, hard to move up, not very good pay, favoritism, incompetent people in roles they can't handle

Good pay, everything else sucks

If you like to live your life at work and never be able to enjoy being at home, this is the place for you! Benefits are $$$, management doesn’t care when you have concerns, and mandatory 6 days a week. They’re always going back on their word, lying to everyone all the time. Unless you accrue enough PTO, you’re not able to take any time off at all. Takes one month to accrue 8 hours, and even if you ask off way on advanced, you’ll get points on your record if you don’t have PTO to cover. Oh your cousin died? Zero days. Your spouse/parent died? Three days. They don’t tell you anything until you start working there and get in trouble for small meaningless things that they never even told you about in the first place. They’re only worried about teaching you how to properly lift and not slip in orientation. When they say ‘occasional’ over time, be prepared for nonstop. Even if you do happen to have a day off miraculously, you won’t know until the day before so good luck ever planning anything.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Everything

Work itself isn't difficult, but mandatory overtime is terrible.

I don't find my job to be difficult, some tasks can be physically demanding. So be mindful of how you're moving your body so that you do not injury yourself from improper lifting or reaching. The biggest problem here is staffing which is in reality a result of poor scheduling and lack of proper wages. Due to a lack of entry level staff, the remaining employees are rotated around to different job positions on a regular basis; often with supervisors and coworkers that they are unfamiliar with. Demands to keep up with production have resulted in near constant overtime, you will work at least 3/4 Saturdays per month. It is considered mandatory and you will penalized even if you have pto. This lack of work/life balance and poor wages is resulting in even more employees leaving, which is only making the situation worse week by week. Higher level management seems totally unaware of how to address the real issues, they just add more burden to those remaining.

Pros

Night Shift

Cons

Overtime, time-off (lack off), Points (Attendance) System

Great place if you want a stability

Great stability/consistent hours. Plenty of overtime. Awesome management. Plenty of upward growth in the company if you really wanted to. Unlimited cakes you can eat

Pros

Job security/ great management

Cons

Factory workers Complained about a whole bunch of nothing

Good pay, but terrible management

Like most factory jobs, they pay well enough even at the entry level. Getting a profit sharing check was nice, but you had to wait almost 2 years until you were allowed full sized checks. Management was terrible throughout, with the exception of a few good ones that understand how to handle situations brought to them. Stuff never got fixed in a timely manner, unless you bugged maintenance about it constantly, or got lucky and had a good shift mechanic in your area. You could advance in job level, but it really just ended up being paid more to handle a bigger machine with a little more responsibility. Definitely tons of favoritism, and they preached their "Christian" values at every big meeting, but you find out pretty quick that doesn't mean much when the lines were working tons of 12 hour shifts and keeping people from having a decent work/life balance.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Repetitive and boring. Mostly bad management. Bad work/life balance.

Warning!

Your work life will only not make you miserable if you are someone’s favorite. They work you all kinds of OT but never on your line. Bad place to work

Pros

You don’t have to talk to anybody

Cons

Has changed a lot

This place has changed a lot over the years and has not changed for the better. Management has a lot to do with that and you can tell they do not care for their employees.

Pros

Job security

Cons

Management

Good place to work if you don’t want to do much

Every job is fairly easy and the pay is decent but not that competitive in the manufacturing industry. Upper management is mostly people who have been there for 20+ years and can’t handle any sort of change. Their pride and ego rule. Supervisors are decent for the most part but usually inexperienced. Maintenance is fairly lazy and the plant has a “run it into the ground” mentality. Money gets thrown around and wasted like crazy. All that being said it is a good place to work for a safe and solid job with advancement but the more you move up there more you see how badly the company is really ran.

Pros

Profit sharing every year

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Short breaks terrible supervision

Horrible

Horrible place to work. Lots of favorites from the Supervisors. Can’t speak your mind or you’ll get wrote up for it. Lots of trouble makers. Machines broke down all the time and know one around to help you. Sorry place! Would not recommend working there!

Pros

Paid for three Holidays

Cons

Short breaks

Productive at favoritism

This company is awful. There was no team work. Management didn’t care as long as you were getting the work done. Equipment didn’t work half the time and would put a bandage on the issue so it would break down 5 minutes later. If your line was off they would make you come in and work on other people lines so they could go home. Favoritism was at a all time high. You couldn’t advance.

Pros

Bonus time, Christmas gifts

Cons

Machines always breaking down. Management, Rotating out for breaks so if the person that relieved you didn’t like you, you were late to your breaks

McKee is a great place to start in maintenance

If you want to go into mechanical maintenance then McKee is a great place to start. You can earn your Journeyman's Card and learn a lot from some of the older maintenance people here. There is some room to move up if you want to be in management and the job security couldn't be better. To get in the door it really helps to have an internal referral, so if you know someone working at McKee, definitely ask then to put one in for you. None of the jobs at McKee are hard jobs. You have harder days than others, but for the most part it is pretty laid back. Safety is the top priority, so don't do anything unsafe that you get you in trouble(fired). You just have to show up on time and work your shift everyday, and clock out to go home.Maintenance does a fair amount of work. It's enough to keep you busy throughout the shift if you look for work to do. Most of the time is spent answering line calls and doing on the fly diagnostics and repairs. Most maintenance work at McKee is not planned. You will learn the basics of mechanical maintenance, and it really helps to take classes to get your Journeyman's Card. You can always ask for help on a mechanical problem you can't solve from more experienced mechanics, and most of them are good about helping you.Experienced mechanics that come to McKee find it to be a nice work environment, often more pleasant than where they were before. You work inside in a mostly air conditioned space. Even the heaviest/hardest jobs at McKee don't compare to other jobs maintenance teams are doing in the area.

Pros

Easy work, good place to learn, free cakes, a lot of PTO

Cons

Insurance not great, good old boy system
