Friendly Visitor (Current Employee) - Walnut Creek, CA - July 20, 2022
My journey with the Meals on Wheels has just began, but it feels so rewarding to be with a group of people who are working together to make a difference in peoples lives. I can tell how important communication, inclusivity and fun it is to work here. I'm learning about other departments and how we can work together to assist clients better. Every day I go to work I know I'm making a difference.

Job with meaning
Program Specialist (Current Employee) - Walnut Creek, CA - July 12, 2022
At the end of the day I know I have made a difference in someone's life. It's nice to work for a Meals on Wheels organization that delivers "more than a meal" as we do with our various support services. I've always felt supported by my manager and co-workers. The relatively new (1.5 years) Executive Director has provided sound leadership.
Pros
Women lead, purpose driven organization with flexibility to work from home
Cons
parking lot is small, but low priced metered parking is available

Great place to make a difference
Volunteer Development (Current Employee) - Walnut Creek, CA - July 12, 2022
An amazing organization with a clear mission to help people but also allows the employee to grow both personally and professionally. MOWDR has an inclusive culture that is constantly looking to adapt and improve. The support here is outstanding, from the leadership to the volunteer base, this group is a perpetual-inspiration machine, helping to make the community a better place, and Meals on Wheels Diablo Region a wonderful place to work.
Pros
Experience helping people on a daily basis

Amazing mission, work hardly feels like work!
Communications Specialist (Current Employee) - Walnut Creek, CA - July 7, 2022
Joined for the mission, stayed for the amazing goals, plans, and accomplishments of the org. Management is open to new ideas which I appreciate. They have a lot of great services for older adults 60+, excited to see where the org goes in the upcoming years!
Pros
Managers are very understanding and supportive, mileage reimbursement, remote opportunities, work-life-balance
Cons
Parking lot gets full sometimes, (we have a double parking system in place which has been working fine in the short-term), I think they're looking into alternative solutions

Impactful work
Chief Executive Officer (Former Employee) - Walnut Creek, CA - September 26, 2021
The work is great. Organization is well respected. Opportunity to greatly impact the community. Working with a board has challenges. Focus on what you can achieve and disregard the other stuff.

A place with a good purpose but poor execution
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Walnut Creek, CA - June 29, 2021
It used to be a good place to come work at. It’s now filled with discrimination, bias’ and politics. Such blatant bias that your eyes will bleed. Old school managers will not change ways and too much politics at play between departments. There’s no room to grow.
Pros
The new executive director is young and passionate
Cons
All the old school managers refuse to learn new ways or adapt
