If you want to work your life away, and make decent money, Means if for you. Management caters to two people. Who are lifers there. Pushing everyone else out the door. Not bad pay, when you consider all the hours you work. Hot, dirty work in the summer time.
Pros
decent pay
Cons
long hours, not a good working environment, union rules

Great Company, Awesome Culture, Growing
Advanced Product Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee) –  Saginaw, MIMay 29, 2018
Great Company, Awesome Culture, Growing, Dedicated to excellence.

Means is a Tier 1 supplier to several automotive OEMs. Means manufactures Mechanical diodes for low and reverse transmission shifting events. Means has earned awards in Quality, and Innovation. Their compensation and retirement packages are aggressively competitive. if a high earning engineer so desired they could retire by the age of 45, but I've witnessed several coworkers defer their retirement because they loved what they did every day, and they felt valued in their positions.

Long Hours never ending black hole with no help.
Supervisor/Manager (Current Employee) –  Saginaw, MIMarch 21, 2018
If you like to work 7 days a week and never see your family or have a life. This is the job for you. Don't expect any help from your boss or upper management either. They all work 40 hours a week along with all support staff Quality and Engineering. If you need a day off or a Saturday and or a Sunday you have to find someone to cover. Good luck on that. basically you are on an Island by yourself. Also don't expect Plant manager to put any money into projects. His Esop is more important then the company. He is retiring soon so he needs to fatten up his retirement.

Good Luck

Means Industries is a stamping plant that makes automotive parts. They are constantly innovating their product line but not investing in everyday equipment and not open to new ways of doing things. They are staying relevant in the 21st century while running their business like its the 1990's.
Pros
Flexible schedule. Good pay. Good benefits. Great retirement benefits.
Cons
Old way of doing things. Unwilling to change with the times and technology.

Working at Means is text book. Everything is pretty much self-explanatory. Only problem there is no wiggle room or many advancement opportunities. Management is far.

Assembly
Assembly and Inspection (Former Employee) –  Sterling Heights, MIJanuary 23, 2014
As part of the assembly line at Transform Automotive I was responsible for the inspection and packaging of the final product. My line made clutch drums for transmissions. So once the product reached the end I was responsible for inspecting the right cuts had been made, the gauges fit properly and that it was packed a certain way. Then I had to print out the proper labels for shipping & receiving.
It was your regular factory work setting but once you got into things and know the people on your shift it became a great job to have with great benefits.

Final inspection assembler (Former Employee) –  Sterling Heights, MIDecember 4, 2014
Assisting and helping others with compassion and patience. What I have learned not just in college but in the work place and every where that we all practice ethics in human conduct. With management feed back is necessary to productivity. Patience is the key to working with others and can sometime be the hardest part of any job. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing I have done well.
