Company doesn't care of its employees
Operations Support (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 18, 2019
The company went downhill once they were bought out by Vista, and they started caring more about appearing to be profitable instead of investing in their employees. Multiple cuts have brought down morale and put additional pressure on remaining staff. Management doesn't have a clue to how their people actually work and make gross assumptions and has lied to their employees. Pay and benefits are subpar.

Fun, supportive place to work
Network Support Specialist (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILJune 3, 2018
At Mediaocean, you feel supported from day 1. The environment is truly incredible, very friendly and helpful coworkers. Great, work-life balance. There is free lunch at least once a week on average and free bagels or hot breakfast catered every Wednesday. Opportunity to work from home when necessary is a great bonus. The only con is that the starting salary isn't great, but they can be generous with raises.
Pros
Free lunches, Unlimited PTO
Cons
Low Starting Salary

Job Very Unstable
MAINFRAME OPERATOR (Former Employee) –  Manhattan, NYMay 2, 2018
You never knew if or when you were going to be let go. Work schedule was good, but senior management always lies to your face. Good holiday party but nothing in a way of saying good job.
Pros
Work / life balance
Cons
Senior Management, company in general

Serious Management Issues
UI Architect (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 28, 2018
For a company this size, the tendency towards micro-management from the topmost levels and a failing to understand how to motivate employees and instill team work has led to a 'scared squirrel' culture. Developers hide and run more than contribute and give their opinions. This in turn leads to more micro-management and wondering why senior management has to dictate every detail themselves.

It was a good place to work
Senior Developer (Former Employee) –  Hasbrouck Heights, NJMarch 3, 2018
It was a very good place to work. After being purchased by Venture Equities, the work climate changed dramatically and things went down hill. Very disappointed.

Senior Developer (Former Employee) –  New JerseyJanuary 10, 2018
Upper management has no direction but is desperate to improve cash flow. Ignoring core competencies to try for Hail Mary business ideas. More interested in cost cutting than in maintaining and developing existing applications.
Pros
Good location in NYC
Cons
Tense, stressful atmosphere

3 day work made it easy.
MAINFRAME OPERATOR (Former Employee) –  Manhattan, NYJanuary 9, 2018
A typical day at work was quiet, at my position there was no room for growth, management has been trying to downsize . The workplace has been stressed because of the recent layoffs. The hardest part of the job is staying loyal and dedicated .
Pros
Health Benefits, 401K

Layoffs, Out Sourcing

Could be a much better place to work
Support Specialist III (Current Employee) –  Nashville, TNOctober 18, 2017
The company atmosphere is not the same in all of the offices. The only place where the atmosphere is fun is in the New York office. Outside of New York the offices are like islands.

They company talks a lot about advancement, but that only appears to happen if you work in the New York office.

It appears that the company doesn't want people to move forward, offer ideas, or suggestions, which contradicts their constant mentioning of the company slogan of "Grow our People."

It could be a much better place to work for if they practiced what they preached.
Pros
Unlimited PTO
Cons
Poor salary, some managers do not care about an employee's professional growth. No challenges.

Hard to say under new management
VP of Data Services (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILFebruary 3, 2017
During startup, it was great as people are close and work hard towards best results. Not much politics and good relationship. It's difficult after company expands and have multiple offices around global.

Quality Assurance Engineer (Former Employee) –  Hasbrouck Heights, NJOctober 27, 2015
Mediaocean gave me the opportunity to enhance my technology skills and learn new ways to excel in Quality Assurance . I was able to freely consult with product and developers to find news ways to plan, test and execute my test scripts.

Most rewarding experience is when I met my our deadlines and a release when out without any issues.

Mediaocean Support is not a great gig
Client Support Analyst (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILJuly 7, 2012
If you attempt to land a job as a support rep for Mediaocean, be warned that the volume by all means is far greater than the understaffed department can handle. There is little to no training and all issues you take, you are fully accountable for regardless of whether it is an area of the software you know nothing about. The atmosphere of all offices are very different. Even though the company just recently went through a merge, it will take a long time to for this department to turn itself around. Management needs to be put into a management program to they understand how to help and guide their workers to actually succeed in be confident in their work. That is non-existent currently.

The company is going in a good direction though. There is an org chart put in place and a path to move ahead. Time is all that is needed.
Pros
young people, a lot of energy in the office, decent benefits and pay.
Cons
little to no training, high expectations without resources.
