Poor management and care
Paramedic (Former Employee) –  Rapid City, SDAugust 14, 2019
Management is toxic. Turn around for staff is extremely high for a reason. Training is poor, treatment of employees is poor. Staff is constantly changing and management does nothing but bad mouth previous and current employees. They will work medics several days in a row and don't pay overtime.

Look elsewhere
nurse (Current Employee) –  SDJuly 8, 2019
This place would be great except for management. The regional manager and base managers are terrible people. If you do not provide the “service” or know someone you might as well work somewhere else.

Only the favorite people are allowed to work specific shifts and bases. And the parent company allows all this behavior because they would rather ignore this behavior than face the horrible management choices.

When employees are afraid to speak to a manager alone without someone present or something recording the meeting, there is a problem. When upper management continues to allow base managers to belittle employees, pilots, medics, emts, there is a problem. The female employees are treated very differently than the male employees.

Very poor management here. And remember management can also leave reviews of the company.

This company is a great place to work and is an ever expanding company.
Paramedic (Current Employee) –  South DakotaApril 8, 2019
As a rebuttal to the previous comments on this page I would like to give my opinion. Management is nothing like any of the poor reviews state. My personal opinion is that these are people that no longer are with the company and probably did not leave on good terms. I am guessing that they weren't doing the job that was required and were either asked to leave or were given the chance to leave without being asked.
Management does a good job and even though there may be a lack of communication at times, employees need to become more involved in the company and ask questions.
The company, or management, will make decisions and attempt to get employees involved, but at times those employees are not involved in what is happening within the company just because they choose to be that way and then it seems that it is "the company or managements fault".
If you want to work for a company that looks to the future and is growing then this is it, If you just want to show up to work your shift and make money whether you fly or don't then this is probably not the company for you. If you want to be involved with the future of a company that is trying to make a difference in patients lives with good staff, good and progressive guidelines and an opportunity to be someone, then this is the company for you.
Don't believe what you are reading in the previous, bad reviews, as these are just disgruntled employees that wanted something and weren't willing to give back.
Pros
Good advancing company, benefits are getting better, pay is good for the areas served

A different place to work
Paramedic (Current Employee) –  MidwestMarch 22, 2019
This place has a much different feel than most of the air medical places in the industry.

Attitude of Servitude.

Pay is good, bases are nice and comfortable, the equipment is first grade, the protocols are cutting edge.
Pros
Great Leadership
Cons
Small company, lack of upward mobility, currently

Avoid this management nightmare
Flight RN/Paramedic (Current Employee) –  Rapid City, SDJanuary 24, 2019
What to say about this company....horrible management and management that seems to be the only area anyone is concerned about. There are far too many levels of management for a company this size. Growth and greed have become the priorities. Everything is micromanaged and the line staff are at the bottom of the priority list. Employee retention is ridiculously low. Less than 5% employees stay 3 years. That's nothing to be proud of.

Hiring practices are poor at best. This company is proclaiming to be "Setting the Standard"....you don't achieve that by hiring people with little to no experience, poor skill sets, hiring for being someones "friend" or relative or simply because they hold the title of RN. Pilots often hired without experience in the type of aircraft being used or medevac experience. Flight medicine is NOT the place for "just a butt in the seat" mentality. Patients deserve far better than that.

Rules change on a daily basis and change depending on who you are. Don't expect honesty or consistency from management, especially upper management.

The only good thing I will say is that there are a few really good paramedics/RNs there that provide excellent patient care. Hard part is that these caregivers are being chased away by the horrible management or getting tired of all the poor caregivers hired in and not being held to the same standards.

I believe in getting experience, but in my opinion....find a better way.

Poor management and poorer culture
Flight Crew Member (Former Employee) –  South DakotaDecember 12, 2018
Upper leadership micromanages everything from the top down. High performers are tamed on performance and silenced on bright ideas to help improve customer service, safety, training etc. Low performers are easy to control and are thus rewarded and catered to. Job requirements, you don’t have to meet them. People have been hired on the basis “two letters R.N.” Other things to consider are the firings without cause, and upper level management that uses intimidation and aggressive foul language at employees. It’s somewhere to get hard and fast experience, however there are better options available.

You get to fly
Flight Paramedic (Current Employee) –  Valentine, NEDecember 1, 2016
Horribly mismanaged company with the lowest pay in the industry. Management will fore people with weak reasons. There are some really great co-workers.
