Great Founders
Director (Current Employee) –  NYSeptember 18, 2018
The Company has poor upper management, teams under the CTO and below have had more than 20% turnover. As they say at 'Weak Companies Politics Thrive' at 'strong Companies Hard Work and Meritocracy Thrive'.. at Medidata Politics thrives. It is amazing how political things are, the employee retention should be a clear indicator.

Awesome company if you're in the right department that cares about your career growth
Operations Support Analyst (Former Employee) –  Edison, NJAugust 29, 2018
Medidata is an awesome company, however, you must be in the right department to enjoy work, otherwise, you're just wasting your time as there's no career growth and they don't care.
Pros
flexible schedule, open friendly environment
Cons
No career growth!!!!!, They rather hire externally than internally, Poor Management

Medidata requires outside training
Project Analyst, Operations- Customer Success (Former Employee) –  Iselin NJAugust 16, 2018
Management requires to outside training for the trends and employee interaction. Management have a lack of humanity as they elevate in their positions.
Hire more people of color to bring more balance of ethnicity
Pros
Freedom and flexibility in the role and position I held while at Medidata.
Cons
Lack of humanity and sensibility; lack of trends that are in other productive corporations

Aesthetically Appealing
Professional Services (Current Employee) –  Iselin, NJJuly 30, 2018
The devil is in the details. This is Medidata. What appears to be polished and aesthetically pleasing to the naked eye, is not exactly what churns deep down in the finite, inner-workings of the company. Overall it is a great place to work...really. The CEOs are like two frat brothers who just want to cross all of their pledges into their elite family of Tech gurus. The culture is second to none and is certainly open, and dressed in its Sunday best of slick, next generation innovation. It’s the Beau Monde meets the technologically savvy - a real pseudo Silicone Valley in all it’s glory. It’s a mover and shaker in the Life Science Industry, truly making a difference in Clinical Trials, and Patient lives.

But....

Beneath all of the sparkle and smell of new technologies, is the stinch of employees overworked and militarized for the sake of revenue. They work tirelessly, bent over laptop screens and wide-eyed at monitors for countless hours, putting on their Sunday best to please difficult Clients, all the while wearing yesterday’s soiled undershirt. A lot of the Project Managers are doing enough work for 4 people, and are yet still expected to perform at top notch levels, with assembly line tactics. It doesn’t matter if you have 15 projects going on at once...as long as you’re “billable” and adding to the overall revenue numbers. You can’t blame your Clients for feeling angst when you take longer to tend to something - all 20 of them. I get it’s a business and revenue is important, but at times the expectations don’t match what’s actually going on down in the trenches
more... where the employees are working hard and getting their elbows dirty. Do we want a pat on the back for doing our jobs? No...but a clean cloth to wipe our faces when we get mud splattered on them from being in the trenches would suffice.

Perhaps Medidata should put as much energy into rectifying the balance of work with their diligent employees, as they do rolling out new products - entirely too fast I might add. Perhaps they should hold Sales accountable for over-selling and over-promising deliverables, only to stick Professional Services with the cleanup bill. Timelines are too tight, and often times unrealistic. Clients want you to bend over backwards to meet unreasonable milestones. And Medidata? They ask ‘how high’ when the Client says ‘jump’.

Like I said before - Truly a Great place to work...but also a great place to feel like too little butter spread over too much bread.

A company with a strong mission and great people. Competitive pay and benefits. Going through the changes it takes to scale a global company. Can provide good growth for those who take initiative.

Sales Operations Specialist (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMay 22, 2018
Great place to work. Excellent work/life balance. Complicated org structure and business; way too many metrics. Intelligent people everywhere you look. The technology is making an impact on the life sciences industry.
Pros
Beautiful office, but work from home is a regular option for most
Cons
Difficult to move up

Toxic culture constant churn
Product Marketing Director (Former Employee) –  New York, NYApril 15, 2018
I would not recommend working at Medidata Solutions to my worst enemy. Toxic, optics only culture, especially in some groups such as Marketing. If you do not form a tight alliance with the company President, you will be eliminated within 1-2 years regardless of level.
Pros
salaries often higher than market rate
Cons
everything else

Senior IT Quality Administrator (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXFebruary 6, 2018
I wish they would make it easier with the education of employees that need it to advance in their career there. More collaboration between teams for better understanding for those that may not be as technical.
Pros

Tries hard to attract innovative thinking despite missing the goal at times
Collaboration Architect (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 31, 2017
Overall it's a low stress environment, and expecting the same accountability from teams there as you might in a fortune 500 company can often produce frustration. The company does reward results, so people who can work well with a lot of autonomy can often achieve some exciting results.

Good company, may have lost some of it's vision
Director of Client Services (Former Employee) –  Edison, NJSeptember 7, 2017
I was part of the Professional Services group. It was a client facing role and representing Medidata to my clients was both extremely fulfilling and stressful. The core product, Rave works very well, but there is a significant technical debt that needs to be addressed.

Other Medidata products are not as well developed nor technically supported as Rave. That is the cause of most of the client facing stress that PS and Customer Care (Helpdesk) faced. My opinion is that Medidata should focus on resolving this, it will become a large problem in the future if it's not addressed

Enjoyed my time at MDSO
Business Process Specialist (Former Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 28, 2017
Caveat: this is a dated review. Was fortunate to have been a part of MDSO in 09 - 10, through its IPO and continued growth thereafter. Talented colleagues and co-workers. Great place to learn
