How do you feel about going to work each day at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital?
I feel that it is battle field to prepare my self to defense /challenge the disease.
to refresh patient.
to achieve some important goal.
If you were in charge, what would you do to make MedStar Georgetown University Hospital a better place to work?
Having been a charge nurse at Georgetown, I would do this first:
a- Verify academic credentials of each applicant for any supervisor position whatsoever.
1-A degree in NURSING should be a must. Degree in business with a BSN is not an advanced degree in NURSING. It will not encourage nursing staff to follow nursing guidelines, nor replace nursing knowledge for the role one is hired to perform.Education in nursing is lifelong.
2- Follow the Ignatian philosophy. Only hire leaders who know and live the Jesuit way, not say they do.(e.g.Those of us who have grown up with the Jesuits, and who follow the Ignatian Exercises, understand what Cura Personaiis really is.)
3-Age quod agis. And --do that which is right because it is right.
I love Georgetown . I am a graduate of the University. I have given my heart and soul working in the hospital for the good of each patient.
