I've work here for a long time and seen this place go from a family oriented business to nothing more than a conventional line for patients. You will learn alot here as far as cancer goes. But there is no growth in the regional sites. Management doesn't back you up and never notices your strength, you are only recognized when you have done something they feel was wrong. If you are of ethnicity dont expect a job offer in commack even if you wanted to transferred from a city site. The greatest benefit is having this company name on your resume.
Management/ no growth in regional sites.
Worked in an admin position immediately post-grad before going back for a master's degree in health-care related field. Gained solid skills and enjoyed coworkers. Management sometimes was slow to respond to concerns and disorganized, but I think it depends which department you work in.
Meaningful place to work; good skills learned
Inflexibility of schedule
It is a great institution to work for with regard to competitive pay and a work culture that emphasizes the employees and their wellness. But you have certain departments run by certain people that go against the ideals and mantra of the organization. I find that you can encounter such people no matter where you work. It is also hard when you are Ancillary staff to move forward even when you have proven yourself ready and capable to move forward.
Pay, health insurance and benefits
Hard to move up in the institution unless you get a medical degree of some kind

A lot of high paying entry-level jobs for students that come fresh out of college. Awesome clinical staff and co-workers most of the time. People here really care about there job. But most of the movement within the company may feel restricted. I.e. you have to do 2 years before applying internally to another job. Lots of politics. Most management is white and they look out for each other so as a POC you have to navigate that as well.
limited mobility for enteral job applying
I have been working at Memorial sloan-kettering cancer center for over ten years and i am totally satisfied with everything, it is very difficult to get job at Memorial sloan-kettering but if you get in you are secure for rest of your life of course if you don't make a serious mistake that will cost you your job.I have been working many places, memorial sloan-kettering cancer center Is the best by far.
I really love the company. It has alot of opportunities and choices of things to do within several careers.. plenty of opportunity for advancent and learning new things..
High workload and at times uncaring/unethical management at all levels, somewhat substandard pay for non-medical staff, good benefits, good for resume
High work expectations from management without commensurate pay unless you are a clinician or mid/upper level administrator. I've repeatedly directly observed or been on the bad end of unsupportive and even intentionally unscrupulous self-serving management at all levels (ie demoting people without proper cause seemingly in order to save face or send a message). There are good people as well at all levels too of course, but lower level non-clinical staff generally are regularly taken advantage of to some extent and not paid paid well in real terms or compared to peer hospitals. The benefits are very good and the medical staff at all levels are compensated very well. Probably a great place to work if you have a medical background and are fortunate enough to have a decent chain of managers directly above you, otherwise there are many hospitals nearby with good reputations and are better to their non-medical employees.
Good benefits, looks good on a resume
At times unscrupulous and unsupportive upper and mid level management, decent pay is reserved for medical professionals and administration
Good experience. Management is subpar but different for everyone. I love my coworkers. Everyday become mundane but is usually rewarding. Overall would do it again. Good if you want to go into healthcare.
pay, full-hour for lunch, tuition reimbursement, insurance
If you want a good pay rate and excellent benefits this is the place but if you don't want to be worry about the every day or about someone messed up your job and nobody will help you insecurity about what's coming next day, many crazy rules and policies that they never show you, many practices different than a regular hospitals because they say is the memorial way.
my time spent working as an intern/trainee at Sloan was very beneficial to my job title at the time (Oncology Massage Therapist). I had wonderful mentors and received many learning experiences across various settings.
hardships with patients in difficult health states
