Upper management has favorites. Upper management likes to micromanage. Upper management has little to no experience in the field. Upper management does not ask their direct care workers about what they think is best for the individuals. Upper management spends money on things like TVs new wallpaper new paint seasonal decorations rather than purchase badly needed wheelchairs and lift chairs for the individuals. Upper management doesn’t care if you’ve worked 17 out of 21 shifts that week they see no reason why you should need a day off . Upper management has your click and if you’re not part of it then you don’t matter.

Merakey has different departments, for example, I work in Behavioral Health, while other agencies of Merakey may work with people who have IDD and direct care, or with children.. The department that I work in has a pretty well bonded culture. The stresses of deadlines, trainings, paperwork, and implementation of new procedures by upper management, seems to bring staff closer together because we depend on each other and share common stressors.

It is a hostel work environment as the upper management micromanage and have favorites. You will receive vacation days but you are not allowed to take them off. H. R. are friends with the management so you will have no one to turn to for help. They will never pay you enough for the amount of abuse they management puts you though.

I left because I was deceived about the number of hours I would work, how much I would be paid, and the advertised ratio was 2:1 but it was really 3:1. Also, client information was very disorganized with a lot of incomplete data, which made it difficult to track progress, etc.

The job is unorganized, dysfunctional, a lot of the upper management have favoritism towards certain employees/Residential aides. People there are malicious and unfriendly so don’t try to make friends. Most of the employees are full of drama, they find ways to fire eachother. No doubt the residents are sweet however the environment is full of really bad vibes most of them hate their job.

Lafayette, Louisiana is home to probably the most unprofessional work environment I’ve ever been in. Lots of substance abuse issues with staff. Don’t be surprised if a staff member has weed in theit car. It’s the norm. Lots of fraud at this location. Upper management does not take any action.
