Employee (Current Employee) –  Clearwater, FLJuly 4, 2018
Benefits are not that good. You are underpaid. No room for advancement. Management picks and chooses when they wish to apply the rules, and to whom.
Pros
Two 15 minute breaks a day

Overall a good company but has a lot of communication issues between departments which makes the job more difficult than what it needs to be.
Billing Representative (Current Employee) –  Rancho Cucamonga, CAJune 15, 2018
Very good management , however the different departments do not communicate well and this makes the job a challenge when it shouldn’t be. They underpay the billing representatives and require you to do more than just billing even though it’s not in the guidelines of your job duties.
Pros
Hour lunch every two weeks/ every pay day
Cons
Unfair with discipline, not every department has good and fair management

A very stressful place to work
Claims Specialist I (Former Employee) –  Rancho Cucamonga, CAJune 13, 2018
Mercury has unrealistic performance goals for its employees. The amount of work per individual should be handled by 2-3 people. Almost everyone is always behind and audits on work are constant.
Pros
Benefits, hours
Cons
Stress, compensation, workplace culture

Terrible place to work.
Claims Specialist (Former Employee) –  Bridgewater, NJMay 30, 2018
Micromanaged to no end. Underpaid, overworked, unrealistic expectations and workload. This job is not doable in 40 hours and you’re expected to not only complete the job but beg for more. Supervisors are all terrible from the branch manager down and are more interested in saving their own hides rather than helping their employees. Awful place to work, I wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.

Seriously don’t do it, you’ll be miserable.

Great place to work...if you don't mind dealing with horrible people
Early Injury Unit Mercury Insurance (Current Employee) –  Brea, CAMay 14, 2018
Great company to work for. However, a job in claims is stressful, and if you can't handle the heat don't apply for the position. The job is a lot to handle and its pretty thankless. However, management takes the time to say thank you, and shows a lot of employee appreciation. Great opportunities for advancement (and those positions are a lot less stressful)

There is no lag time during your shift. You only get 10 minutes to go to the rest room, after using up your 10 minutes you must clock out. Other representatives were nice.
Cons
hours were too long, no part time avaiable

promote the people who don't know what they are doing or are major suck ups if you do a good job they just give you more work from people who can't do the job so no motivation to work above what is needed. management doesn't know what they are doing

I had a great time working at Mercury Insurance. The management supports their employees. The environment is relaxed for what can be a very stressful job.

Ineligible risk: Universal was unable to obtain an acceptable property inspection in a timely manner to properly underwrite the policy because the homeowner refused the inspection or the inspector was unable to locate/access the property.

Too much work in one day for a human to complete. You don't have time to make all of your call backs in one day or to reply to all of your customers. The work load is ridiculous!

Underwriter (Former Employee) –  Brea, CAApril 10, 2018
hard work. Stuck at your desk for long hours. Felt trapped. No place to go. Literally. Overtime encouraged and if you didn't work overtime you were frowned upon. Truly a daily grind.

Property Field Specialist (Former Employee) –  Rancho Cucamonga, CAMarch 22, 2018
There is no work life balance. They will work you till there is nothing left and through you under the bus any chance they get. They have a constant turn over and things just never seem to get better.

stress
Claims Specialist II (Current Employee) –  Valencia, CAMarch 21, 2018
stressful, workload is too much, way too much expectation for a single person. try going to work with 20 voicemails waiting for you that all need a call back, along with 30 emails and 3 new claims along with 20 activities to follow up on existing claims. thats a typical day.
Pros
8-5 schedule, decent break room
Cons
over worked and underpaid
