Nutrition Consultant in Columbus, GA
Focus is primarily on sales.
If you can sell and you have an understanding of the human body and how it processes nutrition, you can be successful. If you are NOT a salesperson, you will struggle.

Not enough hours available.
I just couldn’t get enough hours in. I needed to work full time, and I covered 3 sites in 3 different cities per week, but I have not had 2-4 hours in each site plus traveling; so I only averaged 10 hours per week, & I had to travel every week plus take another job on top which was full time; however, this was a fabulous place to work. I loved it.

The company sounds great during the interview- they talk up bonuses, how busy they are, bonding trips the centers go on, etc. What they don’t bother to tell you in how low your actual commission is on product/sales, how really they’re only truly busy two to three days per week, and that you’re calling people that haven’t been in for potentially years to bring them back in if you’re not actively sitting with a client. You might work from 6am-10pm during “peak business weeks” (their Black Friday sale), and you might not actually get your required hour lunch those days because they’re “just too busy, and we can’t let clients wait”. They valued potential clients more than the clients that actually enrolled and were actively spending a ton of money on the company.
Each new client has to sign a contract that we have to tell them is very strict, and that if they don’t follow the contract, we’ll have to terminate their enrollment. Yeah, ok. Most clients don’t follow it at all, and the center does nothing about it, except push more of their supplements on the client to make more money.
Consultants are penalized if a potential client doesn’t show up or sign up with the program. They need to realize most people can’t afford a $600 program, or even the $100 program- a lot of clients I spoke to, that $100 was their food budget for 2 weeks, and they needed to save for a bit before signing up. That program cost doesn’t even include the REQUIRED supplements and protein drinks they have to have- it’s a pretty big expenditure if you buy everything they tell you to.
All in all, the hours suck, the pay is barely above minimum wage (commissions help, if you’re busy), and upper management is just one big self-involved clique.
Registered Nurse in Fleming Island, FL and orange park Florida
I enjoyed the work environment and encouraging clients on their weight loss journey. It's very part time work hours. Management are flexible with request time off in advance. I got a chance to really bond with clients.
I’ve been with Metabolic for over 3 years now. I have never worked anywhere where I have felt this great about my career. I have had so many opportunities to grow professionally. I truly believe this company will believe in all its employees success and happiness. You have to love your job, love your clients and work hard. The rest will fall into place.
