Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Maplewood, MN - March 27, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedLots of perio patients at the maplewood location which is good for production pay. Hours for a dental office are extended, you may be working a 12-8 shift. However, this gives opportunity to pick up shifts at other locations

Dental Assistant (Former Employee) - Inver Grove Heights, MN - March 25, 2023
nice place to start your dental assisting career but wages are not competitive and they do not help you advance in your career. management is questionable at best

Great doctor, okay company
Dental Assistant (Former Employee) - Richfield - July 29, 2022
Good place to start out as a dental assistant. I learned a lot and it was a busy multi doctor office which taught me to be very flexible which is a great asset for an assistant. The company and management could’ve used some work though.

You are just a number.
Licensed Dental Assistant (Former Employee) - Twin Cities - April 6, 2022
Worked in several different locations. While the last clinic I was at was good as far as the team, overall I would never work for this company again nor would I ever recommend them to anyone. After 5 years with less than a $1 raise, I was told if I wasn’t happy I should look else where and I was replaceable. I was absolutely shocked. So yes, I left!

Good hours
PSR - Patient Service Representative (Former Employee) - Blaine, MN - March 3, 2022
Perks:Mostly 4 day work weeks. Cons: Raises are few and far between. Insurance goes up every year and your pay does not. Too many people in upper management with no idea on how to keep good quality people. They do not pay competitively. They promote from within people who have no managerial background with no proper training.

I enjoyed working with everyone in the office
Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Burnsville, MN - February 11, 2022
I had a wonderful experience during my time working at Metro. Everyone was very enjoyable to work with. Had very few scheduling issues. Sometimes tries to squeeze in an appointment with too little time.

There isnt much oppertunity for growth. You are expected to work like a dog.
Dental Assistant (Current Employee) - Burnsville, MN - February 2, 2022
It started out as the best job ive ever had. Lots of support and great coworkers. Then we had manager turnover then employee turnover and then covid and it all went downhill
Pros
Good people to work with
Cons
No breaks, super fast paced

Horrible benefits and expect you to do everything
Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Bloomington, MN - December 14, 2021
I’ve worked here for a little over two years and while I was at one of the locations I really liked it and the patients were great but since moving to the Bloomington location it’s been horrible. The front desk staff will bend over backwards for her friends in the office and barely do the bare minimum for the rest of the staff. There’s one hygienist and assistant that’s constantly breathing down your back and watching your every move and picking apart every little thing you do so you go home feeling very defeated and like you can’t do anything right and like you’re not a colleague or equal. Talked to my manager about it and she talked to the offenders about how I was feeling and they’re exact words were “well she hasn’t done enough to be treated like she’s apart of our team” and that was after a month, like excuse me?? That must be why everyone left that office and NO ONE EVER wants to fill in at that office because of those couple of people that make working there absolutely horrible. Metro has been bought out and our benefits have been completely slashed when they don’t pay us enough as it is.

Not What I Expected
Hygienist (Current Employee) - Twin Cities - October 15, 2021
I started a job at Metro for the flexible hours which I do like. The patients are also very nice. I am not a new grad, but it appears that they work closely with new grads to transition from school to clinical practice, so it is a good place for new grads. However, management is rarely around. They always seem to be on vacation. You treat the computer rather than the patient because there are so many hoops to jump through when charting and the computer system is an absolute nightmare. Whoever developed it clearly does not have a dental background nor has had to use it as a clinician. Metro says they are "team based" but it is far from it in reality. As a hygienist you have do everything from scheduling patients, calling them to confirm, checking their insurance, creating the doctors treatment plan, scheduling for the doctor and the list goes no. If you are ever running behind during the day you are basically on your own to suffer. There have been days I have not ate, drank or gone to the restroom. Hygienists are production pay so if your patients do not show up for their appointment you are not being paid technically and working on sterilization, stocking etc for free. Twice now they have somehow have forgotten to pay me so I have gone four weeks without pay. Metro prides themself on being up to date on the latest perio classification and caries risk assessments however they are not in reality.

No opportunity for growth
Patient Service Representative (Former Employee) - Minnesota - August 13, 2021
After 3 years I have seen a 37 cent raise. Metro has such a high turn over rate for their patient service representatives because they are easily replaceable and they treat us like we are too. Find a job that cares about you, find a job that invests in your future. Don’t settle for a job at Metro Dentalcare. They are great to their patients but not to their employees.
Pros
Great to their patients
Cons
Hourly pay, respect, 401K investment and much more.

Fun atmosphere, patient focused.
Hygienist (Current Employee) - various locations - July 21, 2021
I enjoy working for this company because they focus on patient care. There is not a focus on metrics which I have seen with other group practices. Hygiene earns fair wage and has flexibility to fill in at various practices. If you move/relocate, you can easily transfer clinics to other locations in the metro. I also appreciate the focus on infection control. I have never seen cleaner/more organized dental clinics. The focus on infection control is not only for the patient, but the employee.
Pros
Patient focus, infection control has high standards
Cons
n/a

Very nice company to work with
Patient Service Representative (Current Employee) - Lakeville, MN - May 25, 2021
Very nice. Although pay is not as good as other offices I do enough in my day to keep my self busy. I work in a somewhat busy office. My teammates are super helpful. Work in an environment drama free. I have fun. Do work long hours though.
Pros
4 days, staff, Dr.s, over all team work
Cons
pay & benefits / vacation, long hours

Run....fast and far away
Hygienist (Former Employee) - Apple Valley, MN - April 23, 2021
Straight production pay for hygienists. Unable to budget. No room for growth. Hygienist can only ever receive 2 weeks PTO when rest of staff accrues per pay period. No control over your own schedule. Management never around. Turnover is HIGH! Company doesn’t support, listen, or address concerns. You are a body to fill a position and that is all.
Pros
patients are great
Cons
Too long to list

Good place to start for entry level
Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Twin Cities - April 9, 2021
This dental practice as whole has a lot of expectations and hoops to jump through on a daily basis which adds to the daily work load. The pay doesnot reflect what is expected of the employees.
Pros
Lots of offices to choose from
Cons
Lots of minutia and busy work that does not pertain to the actual “job”

April 12, 2021Thank you for your feedback. One of the advantages we have at Metro Dentalcare is each of our practice location is a little different to meet the needs of the patients in the community they serve. With our accreditation with AAAHC we are involved with many safety measures to protect our patients and team members as well as ensure the we meet or exceed compliance with governmental regulations to provide high quality care. As we implement new processes it always take time to create efficiency in what we do. I appreciate the dedication that you have to patient care.
Can be a toxic environment
PSR - Patient Service Representative (Former Employee) - Apple Valley, MN - March 21, 2021
I started working for metro as a PSR pre pandemic and at first it was ok but I feel that the training did not set me up for success. Most of the training was centered around the computer system and not how to process insurance claims and you are left to figure out most things on your own. Also the doctor ‘s and some of the other clinical workers treat front desk workers as lesser humans, when people found out I didn’t have a college education I was treated like a second class person. Would not recommend.
Pros
Free dental work
Cons
Short breaks, toxic environment, poor training

Great Company, long time employee
Dental Hygienist (Current Employee) - Elk River, MN - November 16, 2020
I came from private practice 13 years ago, I have spent 12.5 years working at the same location. This company has invested in my professional development, through mentor ship, helping me to become a stronger leader. Leadership is willing to listen, take the feedback of the team to make operational changes to benefit team members. I enjoy caring for my patients, and knowing that we have made personal connections, that they are not just a chart number or an appointment in my day. I appreciate the care and safety measures put in place for me practicing during pandemic times. I have to say at first I was nervous to get back to work after the pause in the spring. But knowing how the Resource Team and Management and Corporate, where on top of all the changing safety measures the state was putting in place, and evolving quickly, I couldn't have felt safer. I get the best of both worlds enjoying the support and benefits of a larger cooperation, with the feel of private practice. I have a great work life balance enjoying a 4 day work week. I have never worked with a better team of employees hard working, professional and fun group of people.
Pros
Continuing Education, Respiratory Program N95, Holiday Pay, Pto, Opportunity for extra hours
Cons
better short term disability plan

November 23, 2020Thank you for your comments. As a group practice we work hard to support our team and create a safe environment. It is wonderful to have such dedicated person such as yourself to serve our patients.
Great for new grads. Low pay and benefits.
Dental Hygienist (Former Employee) - Twin Cities - November 9, 2020
Great place to start as a new grad as they take the time to properly train you. Compensation is below average pay. Hygienists do not get any pto, sick, or vacation time (They say it’s already built into your production pay). 401k match and bonuses have been taken away since covid. Production pay is low as they pay after collections, around 27%. Lots of hours to pick up extra shifts. Nights and weekends are required.
Pros
Training, lots of hours, clean updated hygiene rooms
Cons
No vacation pay, sick pay, holiday pay, 401k match, bonuses. Low production pay.

November 10, 2020Thank you for your comments. We are very dedicated to providing our team with great training and support. I am happy to share very we recently added a new program that provides additional compensation to our hygienist for PTO and holidays. This is something our hygienist communicated was important and we were able create a new program to meet these needs. The 401k match was delayed for a period but is in place. I can appreciate how important benefits are to all of us and we are striving to continually stay competitive in the market.
