If you were in charge, what would you do to make Michaels a better place to work?

  • Give more hours to the workers who stock the shelves and unload the trucks. I would also not make rules about how many minutes each Aisle takes to stock and clean up. I would be mindful of how big a truck is and how long it can take to get all products on the shelves. I would also make sure my employees understand that not everyone can go super fast their whole shift.

  • Well I have been on both ends of this problem. The workers aim to please management anyway the ones you want to keep. All they are looking for is to be treated like a person not just a goffer. Take time to get there feed back on different subjects , that also crosses you mind or should anyway. Be honest they get all the feed back and gripping from the customer, so why not to where the gold is and get the rich feed back from them. Stop and think they are and extension of you. And by the way get to know your employees ask about there family how many children they have and etc. You know if you think about it they are your future and the business will grow.   • Have the part timers anonymously evaluate all store management, so they know how to improve for their team. This would greatly improve morale and give district managers a clue on each store environment. Also have a higher payroll for each store. It is always short staffed, leaving high levels of stress to get work done on closing shifts.

Due to being required to accomplish so many things in a day, there is a constant time pressure which weighs heavily on your shoulders. In order to ensure the work is being done properly, there needs to be some leverage somewhere to help alleviate the stress and tension which falls on the shoulders of everyone else.
