What is a typical day like for you at Michaels?

  • Busy. Multi tasking with working and helping customers. But still somewhat enjoyable. I do replenishments for the most part so I get to walk around and sort of stock the store which I enjoy because it helps me learn the isles, see all the cool arts and crafts and gives me ideas.

  • Down stocking, cashiering, customer servicing...filling buy on line pick up in store orders, etc

  • Non-busy days cashiers just stand at registers and tidy up the front end cleaning and organizing the baskets for floor people to put away, floor people spend time organizing the store and putting away things people didn't want while also helping customers. On busy days which is mainly on weekends and holidays, the same tasks are done but there is less time to do them, if there's a lot of customers floor people get asked to come to register to lower the line and can continue work afterwords. Sometimes floor people could be doing online orders as well.

  • For part-time sales associate, it’s all about customer service, putting items back where they belong, and cleaning (a lot of ppl drop ornaments) so it’s sweeping glass and shards, and of course, cashiering.

  • Sit in my car and think about quitting before convincing myself $9/hr is worth it. Go in, clock in assuming the computer is working. Usually be told what I was supposed to be doing according to the schedule has changed to cashier. Stand with often forgotten breaks (no water) while customers yell at you over coupons. You have to clean the bathroom if you’re cashier with limited cleaning supplies and instruction. Clock out. Thank god you’re out. Go home to do it the next day.

  • It depends. Usually they have me on register all day, which is extremely draining. Other times I'm putting things back where they belong, helping customers on the floor, or restocking items like jewelry or stickers.

  • I either spend the day on register or stocking items. If I close then I am focusing on item returns and making sure my designated side of the the store looks clean.

  • Busy alot of multi tasking while providing customers with hands on service. NEVER enough associates and customers angry no one to help them. Really bad shoplifters take 1000.00 to 3000.0 on average a day.
