Laboratory Technician (Current Employee) –  Dayville, CTFebruary 12, 2019
It's a good stepping stone, the pay is okay, but the work can be a bit much for the number of people. The new CEO seems clueless to the work certain locations are taking on.

Food Micro- don’t do it
Analyst I (Former Employee) –  Wilson, NCFebruary 7, 2019
Work/life balance was horrible. They’d expect you to stay to process all samples even if it was from 9am until 11pm. “Day shift” really means “all day shift”

They fire people left and right and can’t keep a steady crew. Which puts strain on the trained employees.

This is not a career. It’s a decent stepping stone if you want experience in a lab. The only perk was the people I worked directly with... if they didn’t get fired

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY!!!
Pros
Direct coworkers, experience
Cons
No breaks, long hours, turnover, too much work for the amount of employres

There were pros and cons to this company
Analyst I (Former Employee) –  Fayetteville, NCJanuary 10, 2019
Very first lab position so I was eager to learn and start my career in this field. Then I could see what management was about. Young PhD running the lab that didn't have any people skills, any managerial skills, getting used and abused but the division manager. and also doesn't know anything about EO training or training employees. Division manager can be described as an old used car salesman always blowing smoke.
Pros
peers are very helpful, coffee, flexible lunchtime
Cons
old equipment, old leaky building, broken promises from Corporate

MD), Food Microbiologist (Former Employee) –  Baltimore, MDJanuary 7, 2019
The typical work day would consist of high sample volume, miscommunication, overworked employees, and minimal break time. There was no change of workplace advancement.

Drew blood from patients. It was a start up portion of the company for medical field work and it was a temporary position when I was fresh out of lab tech course.

Nice place to work. Managers and staff are friendly and dedicated. Workload fluctuates but can get very busy. Casual environment unless visitors are on-site.

Not worth your time
Analyst (Current Employee) –  Boulder, COAugust 27, 2018
This lab is great if you love to work for minimum pay for maximum work. There is a lack of support from every part of management, and you're at the mercy of the client load.

Money and profit put above anything else, employees neglected
Microbiology analyst (Former Employee) –  Warrendale, PAJune 28, 2018
While i learned a lot of great skills working at Microbac the day to day work is chaotic and very disorganized. The company does not put its lower level employees anywhere near the top of their priority list. They make it very clear that they view their employees as expendable and do not apologize for it. They do give people fresh out of college a chance but for this reason it will always be viewed as a resume builder for most people and nothing more. The workplace culture does not promote employee happiness or well being. It is all about work, work, work with no thought to how much work is put onto the individual. The only enjoyable part of the job is that for the most part your coworkers are great people and fun to be around. The hardest part of the job is that the analysts are overworked and underpaid. Weekends are required, holiday pay is not well compensated and almost all of the upper management barely knows how to do much in the lab so their is no outside help on very busy days. On top of that random quality management tasks are thrown onto the analysts on top of all the other work that needs to be done making the days even more chaotic and tiring. This is a great job for an individual fresh out of college to learn a lot about the food microbiology world and it will build you ability to work hard, multitask, and efficient because you have no choice but to adapt to all the work but it is not a company that you would want as a long time career choice.

Management does not care about employess
Microbiologist/Analyst I (Current Employee) –  Wilson, NCMay 22, 2018
My co-workers are, for the most part, awesome people.
The management does not care about the people that work here.
Good place to work if you are just starting out in your career, but no room for advancement.

I didn't enjoy the work environment because the equipment was outdated and always broke, especially during critical times. I also didn't believe that the hvac and proper ventilation was adequate

Horrible company!!
Quality (Former Employee) –  Maryville, TNFebruary 26, 2018
This company puts NO value in their employees!

The pay is LOW and when times are hard they will just have a massive lay-off.
This company is great as a resume filler and get out. Do not waste your time trying to contribute ideas or better the company. Management will not listen or use your ideas as their own.
Overtime is threatened with write-ups and at the end of the pay week you will be sent home early.

Management will lie to your face, tell you what they think you want hear- they do this with everyone because they think no one talks.
Quality is a waste of money.

Do not waste your time with this company..
The benefits are not worth it!! You seldom get them!!

There are several other labs out there, that are much better. Just do some research!
Pros
some great co-workers not all!
Cons
Most of it..

Not a bad place to work if you are just starting out and want to gain experience working in an environmental laboratory.
Analytical Chemist II (Former Employee) –  Marietta, OHFebruary 25, 2018
Typical day - Show up on time, perform your assigned tasks, socialize on your own time.
What I learned - This company will try to get the most amount of work out of you for the least amount of pay and does not offer many opportunities for advancement. This is not atypical for any industry however. This company needs to remain competitive and the only way to survive is to do adopt this business mentality.
Management - Hard to comment on this one. I would like to believe that the upper-level management at any of their labs has their hands tied and is at the mercy of whatever corporate management dictates.
Workplace culture - The laboratory personnel is very friendly and personable although I will admit, for the most part, they are understaffed.
The hardest part of the job - unrealistic expectations.
The most enjoyable part of the job - being proven to be right all along.
