I hear from staff and locals in our community in Alpena that the hospital has huge issues drawing Nurses especially Registered Nurses. The benefit packages have a huge impact on employees accepting positions especially if relocating is involves which in many cases going further in Northern Michigan is common. I highly recommend restructuring your employee benefits packages to include a lower max deductible that covers a broader range of services. It is almost appalling to have a hospital with an $8,000 deductible when you could use your own services to reduce costs of services by employees if they are done at any Mid Michigan Hospital across the State. Medications are cheaper to acquire thru Express Scripts so why no use a preferred companies listing to allow those discounts to give diversity to cheaper services. Constant refusals of legitimate holiday time requested apparently common due to shortages. When staff in high stress jobs such as healthcare don't receive time to recharge they it gets harder to do the job at hand with a positive attitude. Frequently this builds regret and resentment to your employer and many times employees with quit or seek employment elsewhere. Be a leader in the Industry as your business plan of acquiring many healthcare facilities demands. Give large incentives to move and work in areas where there are shortages providing not only moving expenses but a substantial bonus to stay for a 3yr. period. I come from a social healthcare hospital and see the advantages and disadvantages Nurses start out with 99 days sick time because you are exposed to so very much. It's extremely important to have Nurses healthy when returning to work or the cross infection will be devastating with many illnesses.
I have used Mid Michgans services extensively in moving to Alpena and feel that this is a worthy facility. However sometimes you have to put your 'Money Where you Mouth Is' timing is everything and if your 59 million dollar is going to expand and work you need to realize you need the people to man the facility. WIshing you all the best of luck in becoming one of the best healthcare providers of the North.

Average. Interview questions are about behavior - tend to ask about teamwork, leadership - although it's every person for themselves (no teamwork) and leadership - well, the top doesn't lead by example.
