Horrible Company
SENIOR SALES ADVISOR (Current Employee) –  Fairfield, OHNovember 6, 2018
Discriminated against associates and has hostile employment practices. Offers unfair pay and working conditions. Sets unrealistic sales goals and hires from outside instead of promoting from within.
Pros
The members are amazing and I love this industry

Great members, great staff, great environment.
Pay is questionable in some areas of the club. The people are what keeps this club top notch. Lots of longevity as well.

Midtown is a fun and friendly place to work. The staff has fun and still maintains a level of professionalism. The interaction with the club members is also enjoyable.

Great coworkers and perks
Cafe Associate (Former Employee) –  Palatine, ILJanuary 30, 2018
Mostly great place to work. Great coworkers, great perks.beautiful club. Corporate is a little more concerned with money than employees or members, so unless you are a manager, you will not make decent money and raises are scarce and usually 1-3%.
Pros
Many wonderful people work there or are members
Cons
Corporate makes decisions without being in house to know how it affects the club.

Productive but needs improvement
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor (Current Employee) –  Rochester, NYJanuary 24, 2018
Lifeguarding at Midtown was productive yet needs improvement. Midtown needs to improve their staff to management relationship. At times management was not very understanding of staff problems and did not really know it's staff in general.
Pros
Free access to the gym and other areas of the club.
Cons
Short breaks

Nice place and people
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILJanuary 9, 2018
I had many great experiences working at Midtown. I believe it was exactly what I needed at the time. Positive coworkers with an exciting vibe. For many of my coworkers this was stepping stone for them to start or move into a desired career. Most of the management is good intentioned but, can lack professionalism at times. I definitely enjoyed my job and coming to work. Very nice place to work because of the people. Not everyone is the same so it is an energizing place that can expand your horizon.
Pros
discount at the cafe and interesting people.
Cons
unprofessional management that can be a downer

Midtown Althletic Club
Cashier/Pro Shop (Current Employee) –  Bannockburn, ILJanuary 3, 2018
Recently, there has been several departments, including the café where I was mainly working, that have undergone management changes where there was little consistency in communication. I've learned to ask more questions in regards to what the new managers expect of me in my role. The current workplace culture is stressed due to the changes in the company but I'm looking at it as a learning opportunity to enhance my own communication skills.

The typical workday is very fast paced with lots of members needing assistance. The most difficult part of the job would be trying to satisfy member requests with resources on hand. With that said, however, the most enjoyable part of the job is speaking with members and listening to their stories about why they have a particular request.
Pros
Members, Discounts

Not Full Time, No Benefits

Midtown is always looking for the next best thing to include their members in on, and how to incorporate it into their gym. Working there is a pleasure.

Receptionist (Current Employee) –  Chicago, ILOctober 10, 2017
Overall a great place to be and everyone is talented and awesome. I originally left to pursue other career options and gain more experience. After learning and trying new things I came back and I was welcome back with open arms. This is a great place to gain connections and gain a lot of experience working with customer service. Many times this job is extremely stressful, but there are many moments that can make your day. If you like to stay on your toes and stay busy interacting with people, I would recommend this job for you.

Assistant Manager Retail (Current Employee) –  Rochester, NYOctober 5, 2017
Walking into Midtown is like walking into a resort. You can enjoy a relaxing day at the spa, swim in the pool, or participate in fitness activities that occupy the majority of the club. There is always a conversation waiting to be had and a smile to be exchanged. The environment is simply amazing and our goal is to make members feel like royalty when you enter!

The club is run amazingly well. The staff is the best in the city of Chicago. The newly renovated club will make it the best fitness club in the Chicago area.
