Never! They offer you a starting wage of $21 which is an absolute insult. If your production total equates to more than $22 per hour, you’ll get 21% of what you produce. On average if you’re lucky, you might make $25-26. Which is still insulting for even a new grad without experience.
You’re specifically told that you get a raise every year when the fee increases. Which is false. You only see that raise if your production goal is met. So it’s maybe a few cents if you’re lucky. Whereas all other staff gets a standard wage increase each year. The “support” office acts as though you have every opportunity to make over $30 an hour. They only way that’s possible is if you do srp and perio maintenance all day long, as well as upsell with oral cancer screening, fl2 toothpaste and varnish, and other take home products. If you’re lucky, patients will comply.
To add insult to injury, you’ll be asked to clock out if you have more than one hour without a patient scheduled. So if you have patients that cancel or don’t show up, you’ll need to clock out so you won’t even get paid the miserly 21 dollars.
Midwest also pays their dentists on a similar scale. After a year or two the dentists realize they aren’t getting compensated appropriately and they leave. Which turns into a revolving turn over door. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT APPLY.
