We are preparing for our fourth year serving students and families, after a team of youth, community, and educators invested two years in designing our vision for transformative education. At Milestone Democratic School, educationally-disadvantaged / disenfranchised students (we are a member of the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition) age 11-20 learn in multi-age advisories, where personalized and community-based learning (Milestone is a Big Picture Learning school) is authentically assessed (Milestone is a member the Mastery Transcript Consortium), and participatory self-governance is learned and modeled hands-on every day (Milestone is a Teacher Powered School and endorsed by the Institute for Democratic Education in America).
