Millwood is a great facility to grow and learn within the Mental Health Care industry, I worked on the entire adult unit and really enjoyed the daily interactions with the patience and well as the staff, there is always something to keep you engaged and the learning process is endless.
Pros
one on one patient interaction, room for growth

Over Worked & Under Paid
Mental Health Technician (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXAugust 7, 2019
They are always short staffed. You will definitely work for your money. Some days it will be 1 tech for 18+ patients. You get injured on their clock they still expect you to work. No accommodations whatsoever. Some days you work with no break due to being short staffed. Also show favoritism. They have their people that have been there for years and those people pretty much do what they want.

Good company but...
PRN Program Therapist (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXAugust 5, 2019
Millwood Hospital is part of a national mental health provider but Millwood is in need of some updates to the facility as well as implementation of EHR. In addition, I was hired as a PRN therapist but voiced that I wanted a full-time position. At PRN status, I was given enough hours at first but about 4-6 weeks later, I received no calls for 2 weeks. I wasn’t able to stay due to not getting any hours.

The clinical manager's boss if very supportive and the environment is friendly to working with personal schedule conflicts, within reason. This is a great to get exposure to working in a psych hospital.

Rediculous
Assessment Coordinator/UR (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXMay 24, 2019
Most of the mid level leaders are promoted by their friends 👬 it’s a cut throat culture . If your not in then your out, you can’t be honest with the leadership if you are then you might as well quit.
Pros
Opportunity to help
Cons
Lack of trained leaders

Unsafe work environment
Mental Health Technician (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXMay 20, 2019
This hospital does not value its employees or patients. It’s only concern is revenue and being just compliant enough to avoid a lawsuit. Management is inactive and floor techs have no protection from harm. Which means there should be better compensation but for the stress and work you do in 8 hours or 16 (depending on your schedule) it is not worth it. Also management makes sure you are unable to get OT or even your 40 hours.
Pros
Helping mentally ill patients learn better coping skills
Cons
Unsafe environment/Salary/lack of advancement/benefits/

TX CNA/MHT/ CPI Instructor (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXApril 18, 2019
They will give you room to grow in your field. Working with some of the employee was great ,for example I had one of the nurses help me with an Geriatic patient that was very hard to change, he stayed over from day shift to help and calm and deescalate the patient.

Toxic Environment
Intake Specialist (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXDecember 4, 2018
Millwood cares more about admission numbers than actually helping the clients. It is very difficult to progress professionally in this type of environment and the leadership is lacking. Millwood has a very high turnover rate for it's employees.

It´s a great place to learn about professional counseling
Professional Counselor intern (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXSeptember 18, 2018
I have a lot o opportunities to learn different cases and diagnoses to work with patients in crisis, from your kids to adults. Coworkers were great, but the job itself was stressful (in the way that is people very affected in life and they are in ICU. Emotional draining.
Pros
Great place to learn the acute cases in my profession
Cons
Sometimes very sad and difficult for the patients treated

Extremely Low Morale
RN (Current Employee) –  Arlington, TXMay 30, 2018
The facility is always understaffed, especially with techs. This will make a nurse's shift a nightmare. The kids are out of control and the unit is in complete CHAO! Management knows this and continue to tell staff that they are making changes. There is absolutely zero team work. Your co-workers will watch you drown. The company will do what is best for them only.
Pros
Benefits and pay
Cons
No breaks, short staffed, no team work

Very chaotic and non structured work enviornment
Mental Health Technician (Current Employee) –  Arlington, TXMay 25, 2018
I love working in the mental health field, but this hospital like many mental health hospitals puts alot of work duties on the mental health techs making it a unsafe environment for the patients and staff. It needs to be more organized and structured and have adequate staff then maybe the turnover rate would not be so high and the patients there would also be satisfied.
Pros
Short commute to work.
Cons
Unsafe and highly stressful environment

Stuck in a time warp
Program Therapist Adult Services Millwood Hospital (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXFebruary 9, 2018
Horrible management! When you offer information or complaints from patients or family they blame you for bringing that information to their attention instead of taking ownership and making change. This hospital was stuck in the same pattern of repeating the same mistakes because they didn't listen to the people they served...their patients and families. They hated change and it showed.
Pros
The lobby got painted with every new CEO
Cons
Worst place to work in Tarrant County

Fun place to work. Great employees
Director of Housekeeping (Former Employee) –  Arlington, TXJanuary 7, 2018
I liked working here and left to open another hospital for them. You get two 15 minute breaks and 30 minute lunch. We've helped a lot of people here. Management really cares about the employees and likes to do pot lucks and raffles for us. A lot of work to do but others help out when they can. Everyone has there own area to keep up and a lot of overtime when we're busy. Which is most of the time. Linen trucks bring all our clean linen and pick up the dirty linen 3 days a week. Hourly ppl get 2 days off a week unless there is overtime available.
Pros
helping the patients and the families. Most rewarding.
Cons
No advancement
