Fun workplace

The students are the best part of the job. Administration is out of touch with employee needs and offer little support however the benefits/vacation time/students are the best part.

Toxic Work Environment

No support from Administration. House Parents not respected and first ones to be blamed by Administrators for student actions. Unqualified Administrators conduct so-called investigations without regard to facts or logic. Toxic workplace without competent management.

Mission is supposed to be strong

Mission oriented - imperfect but striving to help students

MHS is built on a mission to help impoverished students to become successful adults who make a positive impact in the World. There are plenty of challenges that come along with that and hard decisions that have to be made. It is not a perfect organization, but I really believe that it is ultimately a place where the mission is being accomplished through the hard work of houseparents specifically, but also staff and administration. The daily grind of getting through all of the asks, to actually focus time and energy on the things that really matter can be a struggle. It is easy to lose sight of the mission when mired in administrative responsibilities. The MHS community is super supportive in the midst of those struggles and grind. There is tension between houseparents and management, and perhaps communication could be better. Need better reminders that we are all on the same team, working towards the same mission/goals. I love MHS and specifically the impact that I have seen in the lives of students. There is nothing quite as rewarding as seeing students thriving in the real world and being a positive impact. The job is tough, the place isn't perfect, but the mission is clear and the impact is lasting!

Please let me clarify... the snow question. Always have lived in the South so I am wondering if there will be a significant adjustment with the maintenance of the snow. Not concerned about the children and helping them grow into wonderful young adults, just learning how to manage the snow. Will we be shoveling our own driveway and sidewalks or will be living on a campus where that is provided?
