This job has great benefits but depending on your position it can be dangerous. You are working with inmates and need to understand it comes w risks. There are new regulations and rules I do not agree with that feel sexist and also puts the Officer in more danger due to less segregation time for serious infractions. So before you join you need to understand - more ... the dangers before applying if its an Officer position you are pursuing. Advancement takes several years and can be faster if you have a degree. The job itself was amazing for several years but towards the end of my career it was going dow ... - less
ProsGREAT benefits, job security
ConsLack of safety, dangerous position
