Customer Service Representative in Lake Placid, NY

Do yourself a favor and stay clear of empty promises and glass ceilings. There is no room for growth. They cannot retain any new staff and you’ll quickly see why. If you have various skills and hard work ethic you will easily be taken advantage of. The company does not care about you - toxic work environment.

Working at the Mirror Lake Inn seems to be all great when you first start. They offer a slightly higher salary than other hotels in the area, and swoop you in by speaking so highly about the hotel. However, once you get sucked in, it is incredibly hard to leave. They brainwash you to think the hotel is top tier (when other companies in the industry don't even bat an eye at Mirror Lake Inn). You have to explain all these accolades about the Inn, but no one cares at all. Without adequate pay, it is virtually impossible to leave, so people are stuck there for years on end with no financial ability to seek other employment outside of Lake Placid. They pay you enough to get by, but are always on a 'raise freeze' and say that if the Inn makes more money than the previous year, that you will get a very small one time bonus check. During the slow season, you are without a job and are severely struggling to afford to live. Then the entire year you try to play catch up on the lost salary during those months of either no salary or severely cut hours. There is absolutely no work/life balance as your schedule is given to you weekly at random times and is never the same. Working from 3:30pm-11:30pm and being scheduled to work the next morning at 7:30am is very frequent and not out of the norm. Beware.
Housekeeper/Lobby Attendant in Lake Placid, NY, USA

A typical day at work would be helping the guests get directions, answering their questions, cleaning the lobby as needed, turndown service in the evening. I learned how to keep myself busy even when there was not much to do at the moment, and how to be polite even when the guests were not very kind. The management was professional and accessible at all times, ready to assist with any matter. Workplace culture was friendly and reflecting the inn as a place owned by a family. The hardest and most challenging part of the job was to keep myself busy even when everything was in order and there was not much to do. It was a great learning opportunity for me. The most enjoyable part of the job was talking to the guests and being able to help them, which they always appreciated very much.

Todo muy organizado y limpio, los supervisores son demasiado profesionales con su trabajo. Tratan de hacerte sentir como en familia, algo que muchas empresas no hacen, es algo que se valora mucho <3
