How long do they call you back to let you know if you got the job or not?

The policy is supposed to be if you got to an in person interview they are supposed to let you know via email or phone call within 24 hrs . Typically we only called the individual we decided to move forward with so we could discuss next steps. Then sent an email to those we were not moving forward with with a letter.
