You can sign up for any hours that are available. Some projects it as much as you can handle, the others you are fighting for scraps with everyone else and are lucky to get 40 hours in an entire month. If something pops up and its greater than 2 weeks before your day/hours come up in the schedule you can usually drop it without it hurting you but within 2 weeks you are fully committed to any hours you sign up for unless you can have someone confirm and pick them up for you so no Sick-time, Paid Time Off or anything like that. You miss a shift and you can be at the bottom of the totem pole
Varies. Mainly you set your own schedule but you might have to commit to shifts.

If you select a shift you need to work it as it can count against you. You have open flexibility you set your own hours.
