Never dull, frequently surprisng and often messy. I Love the families.
My days as a staff nurse on our Family Center being at 0700 with morning report and patient allocation for the day which is done as a group.
We then go with the off going RN to meet our patients and hand off care.
The days activities can vary quite a bit. I might do labor and delivery, neonatal nursery ,postpartum and answer questions on the phone - more... all in one day!
In 12 years at this hospital I have learned more than I can say here about the art and science of birth which will always remain a mystery.
During that time I have also learned a lot about the regulatory environment which seems ... - less
ProsClosest hospital to home. Great cafeteria. Lots of paid leave.
ConsPoor communication horizonally in the organization. Several benifits have been cut over the years.
