A great place to work with awesome managers.

Overall, managers always want me to succeed and learn new things. The work-life balance is also great. One downside is that since product cycles are 10+ years, not a lot of opportunities for actual hardware design are there.

Pros

Work life balance, Benefits, Culture, Mission

Cons

Advancement

For a certain person

Its remote work. It's not hard but unfulfilling. They're flexible with time off and you get some holidays off. If you want a repetitive WFH job and can handle stress, then this is the job for you.

Horrible workplace

Here is a list of reasons on why you shouldn't work here 1. YOU WILL NOT BE HIRED! they cycle through contractors2. Management sucks! - My manager never did anything to help me and was basically clueless 3. People are always talking behind each others backs4.Nobody acknowledges the good they only notice the mistakes you make - They act like 1 mistake you do is the worst thing in the world and they act like they are about to fire you5. You don't get a raise for the more work you start doing and they expect a lot from you6. They rarely ever allow you to take time off - They are not flexible with your schedule I can keep going but I do not feel like wasting a whole day writing about this company

Great People, Poor Pay, No Promotions

It’s a really nice job, but the pay is low and I haven’t had a raise in several years. Whenever a manager leaves my department they hire from elsewhere. They don’t promote from within.

you work at a local shop or office, some people are valued more than others, the manager can play games with your time and efforts

working for an extremely large corporation like Motorola is challenging. Especially if you don't have the right manager to guide you through the HR Dept, PTO, Departments and other beneficial departments. You are a number, it's freaking hard to get a raise, and some of the employees are considered more valuable than others.

Pros

job security

Cons

NO raises

Ability to move up. Fair treatment of all peoples. Time clocks were Supervisor and LPO with a clip board.

I worked for the company for 30 years and all in all it was a great experience. The procedures in place to help and maintain a good work force works most of the time. And where there are issues it could be corrected when brought to light in the correct mannor.

Pros

Bonuses, paid time off, sick time, vacation time all separate times. Good works recognition and perfect attendance bonuses.

Cons

occurrences for attendance issues could be harsh, and some abuse of this policy could be found in certain rooms. (Good ole boy, mentality )

Growing company with an open and inclusive culture

A lot of great people to work with and learn from. Strong core business (though very mature) and continued expansion of product portfolio through acquisitions and organic growth.

Pros

Open and inclusive culture. Excellent benefits.

Cons

No major one identified yet

Great Place to Work

Everyone is so collaborative and helpful. Great place to work for if you're fresh out of college. MSI has great training and there are tons of internal resources for learnig.

Pros

Work-Life Balance, Great Learning Opportunities

Cons

Overall Compensation is lower than other companies, Engineers don't get overtime pay

Managers

Managers are not well trained or consistant. Work and dependability is not necessarily rewarded. Whenever personnel is accessed, personnel contacts your manager and tells manager everything discussed.

Pros

Interesting job.

Cons

Raises not reasonable.

Meetings with other System Technologists were always productive

I enjoyed most of my time here, it was a balance of learning and teaching. Only problem was the high number (3) of re-organizations during the 18 months I was there. Final manager was not experienced in my role but did try hard to learn.

Pros

Good salary/benefits

Cons

90% travel and often at short notice

Terrible management

At one time, MSI was a great company to work for but too many company acquisitions changed the culture and degraded management into a dictatorship. The CEO is a genius but he has created an environment of insecurity among his executive leadership teams which causes immense micro-management. If you work here you will be enslaved to Salesforce and your health will be disregarded and you are told to disregard the COVID policy of your customers/prospects.

Pros

Fair compensation and good benefits.

Cons

Terrible management. Micro micro micro managed down to your bathroom breaks in Salesforce.

Solid management and work/life balance

Great opportunity to learn and grow. Great benefits and offers education assistance. Management always has made employees feel recognized and appreciated. I was given the privilege to have a supervisor that would constantly check in and made sure you felt at ease with the work provided. Questions were always answered. Training lasted a month and there was more training down the line.

Pros

work life balance, great benefits, awesome PTO, worked with amazing people!

Cons

non

High stress environment with little management support

Secretive company where upper management is in cahoots with each other. Very cliquish. Like a fraternity of untouchable managers. If you’re not in the in crowd you’re out.

Pros

Good pay. Good benefits

Cons

High stress. Too many hours. No work/life balance.

Remote Work with Opportunities for Growth

Motorola tries to invest in its employees. Great benefits and they offer education assistance along with unlimited PTO for salaried employees. Company culture seems the change depending on the department and who manages them. Some are definitely better than others.Due to the size of the company employees can get bogged down with work without management noticing.

Pros

Great benefits

Cons

No work-life balance
