Productive and fun place to work
Youth Counselor (Former Employee) –  Campton, NH 03223November 1, 2018
Working with troubled youth was the most rewarding aspect of the job. Management treated me with respect. Seeing students displaced from programs due to misbehavior was difficult.
Facilitating positive behavior after concerted efforts to counsel and encourage students.

Poor management and long hours/no therapy
Yourh counselor (Former Employee) –  Campton, NHSeptember 11, 2018
Weekend shift is 40 hours over 3 days with no breaks. In campton, there is no paid programming. Staff and kids are limited to playing xbox, going on walks outside, going swimming, or playing basketball back on campus. Very hostile environment between staff and kids. Lots of physical management and very little therapy or rehabilitating. I was started off in with the most difficult kids with no training and a shadow day where I was given a poor explanation of the job description. Online job description does not meet assignment.
Pros
Food provided although usually very unhealthy

Behavior Specialist/Youth Counselor (Former Employee) –  Campton, NHSeptember 10, 2018
It is not the job that I expected. Management could care less about the employees. They are treated like they are disposable and easily replaced. It is all about making money. The clients are often verbally abusive and/or violent toward staff and are still offered whatever they want. The clients have no accountability or consequences for their actions. The working environment varies greatly depending who is the management for that day is.
Pros
Working with the youth, flexible working days/hours
Cons
Short or no breaks, management

Easy, fulfilling work. Help kids become the best versions of themselves. Each day you work with the kids to help them learn the necessary skills needed to succeed in the real world.

I enjoyed working for the management team, I felt that they had my best interest in mind. I felt I was heard if I had an idea or plan. I love the bond that you get with faculty.

poorly run
youth counselor (Former Employee) –  Rumney, NHNovember 28, 2017
The staff, especially management, is very unprofessional. The place is run poorly and is very disorganized, the children in this program do not get the help they need. New employees get no training at all and the "management" does not have leadership skills at all. They are almost always understaffed and due to inconsistency, the boys are often violent towards the few male staff that do work there.

Awesome place to work while simultaneously changing the world!
Office Manager (Current Employee) –  Rumney, NHMay 23, 2017
Becket is a place of advancement and fun! You could literally get paid to go watch a movie while watching some clients and they will buy your popcorn! There is always something new and exciting to try and do. If you can apply yourself, you can make your day the best one every. Faculty get to pick what programming you want to do for the day therefore you can decide what fun activities you want to do with your clients. If the clients see you enjoying an activity, they are eager to do it with you. You literally are given a chance to change the world!!
Pros
Free Meals, Great benefits, You get paid to go fishing
Cons
Sometimes your schedule is altered by clients

Poor management, NO training
Youth Counselor (Current Employee) –  Campton, NHApril 8, 2017
Clients are incredible, and can make the job worthwhile.
Overall, however, the management is awful. No training is offered, new employees are just thrown in. There is little to no communication, adding to difficulties.
The milieu staff is amazing, and really tries to keep things afloat, despite all obstacles.
Pros
amazing clients, amazing milieu staff
Cons
poor upper management, lack of communication, long hours

Team Leader/ Recreational Youth Counselor (Current Employee) –  Rumney, NHSeptember 10, 2015
Residential work with kids of different backgrounds, including SBP, behavior problems, and kids with drug problems.
Was taught therapeutic crisis intervention and how to counsel children in crisis situations. Learned how to document milieu notes and progress reports on students.
Middle management is poorly trained and unprofessional, but clinicians are great and supportive. Second shift residential counselors work together well.
The best part of working at this facility is building connections with the students and seeing them grow and change.
Pros
Good experience, kids are great, and its enriching.
Cons
Pay is lowest income and forced to work lots of overtime.

Very stressful and overworked
1 on 1 Counselor (Former Employee) –  Plymouth, NHJuly 16, 2014
Not what i expected and I could see that after the first week. There was lack of structure in all of the daily "activities" and very little consistence in general. You never knew what you where walking into each day you came into work, lack of communication. Program needs a lot of help.
Pros
Free lunches a lot of overtime
Cons
no breaks, low pay, injuries at work, long shifts, lack of structure
