company owner saw business as hobby more then peoples life lines. The pay was great for what it was but some days it didn't seem like it. Plus most of the time the schedule was hectic and disorganized.

A few tweaks within leadership and this can be a great local consulting firm
Management Consultant (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZMarch 2, 2018
MSS is a great local consulting firm. I had an opportunity to work with some great resources and work on some exciting projects. Unfortunately, leadership was not well organized, and there were people in roles that were not effective. The work was challenging and enjoyable and my time there was well spent. But there was too much concern about what (if any) next project would come up and if it was a fit for my background. Too much turnover and too much change, and not enough autonomy. I think this would be an easy change for their leaders to adopt, and in the future I would return there for consulting work if there was more assurance of stability.
Pros
flexibility in schedule, great clients, great employees, nice work spaces
Cons
leadership challenges

Consulting Manager (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZJanuary 30, 2018
Great place to work as a consultant. You can spend as much time involved with "corporate" trying to help develop the company as you want. Meaning you can dedicate all your time to consulting if you'd like and let them manage accounts and projects. Or you can be fully involved in the client acquisition process and project selections.

Environmental Engineer (Former Employee) –  Martinsburg, WVJune 30, 2016
So its government contracting, which is feast or famine, but if you go in there and prove your an asset, its a great relationship. You primarily report to site government managers, but in my case that's been great. Very ethical company, with annual merit raises. As far as contracting goes though, they are great for what they are. Very easy to work with and eager to create success.
Pros
Ethical, Merit Raises, Berievement
Cons
Contracting, 401k match.

Construction Management Team Leader (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCOctober 11, 2012
Typical day consisted of managing, coordinating events with staff of seven. Making things happen! Learned to be more effective as a leader. Excellent leadership at both GSA and DOE. Very and highly professional. Co-workers and staffers, great! Made some lasting friendships. Maybe the most challenging part of the daily routines was the inherent and understandable politics, however it improved my skills as a leader to get things done. The most enjoyable part of the job was to watch staffers grow professionally.
Pros
excellent environment and challenging work (the scheduling part), as we worked on a life safety project in a fully occupied building
Cons
maybe some of the politics to get things done
