Worst place I've ever worked!
Engineer (Former Employee) –  CADecember 20, 2018
Worst professional environment I've ever worked in. Upper management is a joke! Most of the leaders do no have the skills and knowledge to do their jobs and make the tough decisions. When you go to HR to complain they are worse, so what are you left with? Nothing, so you have to leave the company.
Pros
Not much
Cons
Job was not what I was told it would be. Culture was not what I thought it would be.

Bus Operator (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CADecember 10, 2018
MTS is among the best in the United States. I would like to work with MTS again some day ,but as a part-time driver. The starting pay is great and you can gain senority quickly. Due to many veteran drivers are due to retire this coming year,
Pros
Good pay to excellent pay.
Cons
Lots of overtime.

Project Scheduler (Former Employee) –  Eden Prairie, MNDecember 2, 2018
Poor communication from the executive level down. Management pushes agendas that don't make sense. Zero continuous improvement in front office. Any attempt to enact change is met with massive resistance.

Most of the people at MTS are incredible. They need to pursue more job transfer knowledge from the aging employees. We are losing incredible individuals at a fast rate.

The management at MTS does not care about its employees just the Share Holders and revenue. there is no balance between work and home life, they expect you at work all the time mandatory OT regardless of work load, the company cannot keep employees due to the way they are treated. .

Frustrating and Chaotic
Mechanical Assembler (Current Employee) –  Eden Prairie, MNJune 15, 2018
A typical day at work consists of very little direction or communication from leadership. What is communicated is often times incorrect and there is no accountability. There are very smart people who work there but they are under-utilized, under appreciated and becoming fewer and farther between. The hardest part of the job is compensating for those who don't know how to do their respective jobs and create more work for those who have the knowledge. The most enjoyable part of working at MTS is the unique and interesting systems that are built and tested there.
Pros
Unique and Interesting systems
Cons
Poor Managment, Miscommunication, No accountability, Unorganized, Under-appreciated staff

Technology and innovation great strengths. Supervisors, not so much.
Anonymous (Former Employee) –  Eden Prairie, MNApril 4, 2018
MTS is an innovative company. At the cutting edge of testing equipment/solutions. Unfortunately, supervisors and managers leave much to be desired. For a company not yet at the $1b sales threshold, the company is very top heavy at the executive level. However, backfilling positions at any level below supervisor requires an act of Congress. Hiring criteria for supervisors seems to consist of pulling in people who were not good fits at their previous company. Those supervisors, while maintaining they are open to suggestions, are not. Those supervisors, while saying they have an open door policy, are dismissive of concerns presented in such meetings. Perhaps MTS has become a place to start one's career/use as a launching pad, but not to remain more than 3-4 years.
Pros
A great place if you are an engineer. Cutting edge testing technologies.
Cons
Supervisors

Poor place to work
Valve Technician (Former Employee) –  Eden Prairie, MNDecember 6, 2017
Good people to work with, interesting systems they build. Poor Management From The CEO down, short term business focus.Forced overtime that makes no sense. Workers have no say just do as your told. MTS needs to clean house on the management and get back to the good company it use to be years ago.
Pros
Good Benefits and pay
Cons
Poor Management from the Top down, forced overtime when there is work to do.

Senior Project Engineer / Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Current Employee) –  Lexington, NCOctober 9, 2017
This was formerly known as Roehrig Engineering before MTS Systems acquired it. MTS Systems kept the site open for 3.5 years before deciding to close this site and absorb the products into their headquarters.

Bus Operator (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CAAugust 16, 2017
Being a bus driver is challenging. You have to learn many things such as pre-trips, airbrakes, etc. The great thing about transit is that they do paid training. Before you get behind the wheel they pay for your test and license, (about $3000 in total). You need to learn all of San Diego if not, you get lost! And there is nothing worse than a bus full of angry passengers!
Pros
Free commercial DL
Cons
split shifts
