As a current EMT who has been with Murphy Ambulance since 2017 I have been grateful for the experiences and development that I have been able to gain here. The paramedics and critical care medics are always willing to teach you something if you are willing to learn and want to. If you want to learn any other part of the company, ask the managers they will help you. As in any job treat others the way you want to be treated and you will have a great time working here. Make sure to do your reports correctly and get all the required paperwork that is needed and you won’t have to worry about going back to the facility to get the paperwork that you should have gotten. You are never short of hours, if you want to work extra hours all you need to do is ask. During the heart of COVID-19 pandemic they ALWAYS made sure that we had the proper PPE in order to keep us safe. As an added bonus they do not require their crews to stage at hospitals or other locations. After you do your call(s) you are able to return to your station.

A typical day consists of waiting at a base for calls. Once you get your first call it is up in the air whether you get to come back to base. Which is the nature of this business. The management is unorganized and they have bad communication skills. It is a small group culture, not much diversity, has a very high-school clicky kind of vibe. You are judged immediately into a like or unlike group. The hardest part of this job was not knowing what to expect from day to day. The "policies" they have are often changed frequently and you will not have a clear understanding of the "rules". There is no company handbook to refer to for any such issues that should arise. One of the dispatches is rude and verbally abusive to his employees, but his fiance is the operations manager and the person who approves your hours. So, you have to watch your back for conflicts of interest.

Nice place to work. Nice environment. Get your own space wherever you make that. Have a base. Not too busy. You are not posted in an ambulance all the time.

Organized staff and maintained rigs. Flexible with work hours and helpful with getting con-ed. Fun job, learned a lot from partners who were very pleasant.
