The sick leave policy is handled actually pretty well. We were given 2 weeks PTO a year and then we had a sick leave balance. The sick leave balance had to be approved by HR, however, if you were out for FMLA you could use that instead of your PTO, or you could use both the cover your income. After a certain amount of time you would be switched over to Short Term Disability but the company allowed you to still use sick time if you had it or up to 80 hours of donated sick time.
