Remarkable place to work
I absolutely love NFM I’m am part of a family and everyone around me is wants to see me succeed and positive environment all the time. The company is very selective on who they accept to work at NFM. The company is all about integrity and being honest is the key. Always be honest. They have fantastic benefits and more... They take very good care of their people and they have tons of positions. I absolutely love my careers and I am an NFM employee for life

Coworkers are nice
Corporate likes to cut costs whenever they can even if it means making our work harder. Not allowed to wear any sort of back brace. The busy season will leave you sore.
Pros
injury is taken seriously
Cons
not allowed to sit except for break

Solid, just prepare for a few things!
Excellent place to work, be prepared to deal with customer issues that may be out of your control where the customer holds you responsible anyways. Management is good, not great, however. Plenty of places to move up to after doing time in a position.

Not family oriented
You are a number and not a person. Forget your personal life because you wont have one. In my role I was on call 24/7 365. They want you to be ready at a moments notice at all times and drop whatever you are doing. It will put a boatload of stress on you and your family.

Customer Service management team lacks uniform direction. All other department managers work with one direction and focus.
Overall the company focused on sales and customer sales floor experience. The customer service management team is less customer focused. Very little support.
Pros
Fun enviroment
Cons
Inconsistent direction

overall good place to work
Sales reps come and go. Management is sub-par. Some are great and some are weak. Overall, if you just do your job and show up on time, you have nothing to worry about.

Drama
It is all about the numbers, not about the people. It is a fairly easy job, however at the end of the day it is still retail, and you don't always end up making as much money as you deserve for how hard you may try for a sale. It is too competitive for the pay that you get. Even though there are great people that work there, there is ALWAYS drama, whether it be with co-workers, managers, or customers, the energy and culture of NFM is toxic.

A security officer is an alright position
PLEASE READ IF INTERESTED IN SECURITY THIS IS THE TRUTH!!!!!!

When working security you are more of a customer service representative 98% of the time. The other 2% you are able to detain people who commit any sort of crime against retail (shoplifter and fraud are the most common), and respond to medical situations.

While working inside the store you HAVE to greet every customer, if a customer wants a scooter you HAVE to provide them with a scooter. Give directions to the customers at the desk. You are graded monthly on what they call a "greeting score" and if your greeting score is low then your performance review will be low.

Like I said, you are basically a customer service representative 98% of the time.

While at the desk, you have to write "fumble recoveries". You have a minimum number you have to do per month in order to have a "good performance review for the month". Fumble recoveries are when a customer is trying to leave upset and you stop them prior to leaving and calm them down to try to get a manager to come help out to have them stay and buy something. The executives of the company LOVE fumbles and they preach it all the time in the morning meetings that they MUST get fumbles. Everyone hates them and they are pointless.

Another thing you have to do is "customer services" When you write customer services, it is when you help out a customer find something or help them get a salesperson and then they buy something after you assist them. Then you write a report over it. You have to have a minimum number of them in a month to maintain a good performance

Pros
Decent pay for a level 2 security officer
Cons
Not a real security officer, more of a customer service rep, poor scheduling, hours, not completely truthful

Serves it's purpose
Weekends are required. This is the biggest and most impactful negative aspect of working at NFM. Most managers are supportive but my direct manager lacked in teamwork and therefore lacked in the morale of her team. Most coworkers were honest but a few would ruthlessly steal customers and sales.

Rewarding Work, Self Drive Needed
Working in the only non commission sales position the pay is fair. Management strives to develop good sales techniques to drive associates towards their goals of working commission. Employees are fun to work with, and extremely helpful. Its a nice place to work.

Horrible
Avoid becoming a delivery operations associate as much as you can. Not only do you have to deal with rude customers, which is what you would anticipate, but you also deal with extremely rude drivers and their managers. If the driver 'forgets' a piece of furniture at the warehouse or 'forgets' the hardware for a bunkbed you are responsible for resolving the issue. You are supposed to get the driver to go back or resolve the issue with their manager. What actually happens is the driver won't go back because it will make them either late or they just don't want to. They get paid whether you get your items or not. You are supposed to call their manager and the manager just tells you that they can't make the driver do anything. The customer is screaming at you so you tell your manager. Your manager tells you to make the driver go back. How can you make the driver do something that their own manager can't make them do?! Ultimately, you end up getting screamed at by the customer AND being blamed for the drivers laziness. Also, salespeople call you to check inventory on pieces. If it's not in the warehouse expect to get yelled out and hung up on by salespeople. It's bad enough you have to deal with rude customers but when the people you work with are rude too it makes the job more miserable. Avoid at all costs.

Great Place to Work
While working at NFM, I felt valued and appreciated as a member of the NFM family. Wages and benefits are really good compared to other companies in the retail industry. Allowed for a good work/life balance. Executive management empowers managers to be able to do their jobs and provides them with the required tools & resources to meet the company’s core objectives.

Working at nfm was a pleasant experience and I would suggest it to anyone looking to get into the retail customer service business
Don't pass up the chance to experience what nfm has to offer. They are very diverse and compensation equals any employer out there for the position the management staff is loyal and there to help any employee succeed

Good opportunity
Great opportunities for those who wish to grow within the company, they offer tuition assistance towards a business degree. They offer 401k with mediocre contribution matching and mediocre health benefits, mediocre meaning not uncommon within bigger companies. I Would recommend this company to anyone looking to pursue a established business career.

Great Job Opportunity in High School
I learned a lot of information about credit and how that works. Working there cleared up a lot of questions I had about that. NFM is a great job for kids that are in high school. I was able to go to school, go to cheer practice and go to work and earn a decent pay while in high school. It was a very relaxed for the majority of the time that I was there.

BIG Brother is watching
Be Politically correct. Make no mistakes. Walk on eggshells. Cameras are everywhere. "Be positive", not moral. Never ever ever confront anyone, especially HR or Managers. They will destroy you. Sales people feel like they will be fired at any moment. Huge turnover rate. If you work for NFM, constantly keep other options open. The fellow sales people are wonderful and amazing. There are lots and lots of products to learn about. The system of making "special orders" is extremely outdated. So, you'll be intellectually challenged and no lack of customers to keep you busy - which is great. BUT BEWARE of managers and cashiers and HR. From my original orientation class of 50, only 2 are left.
