Adoption Counselor in Reno, NV

The workplace was a lot of fun with coworkers who understood me and we all worked well together. It's a fast paced job sometimes, other times it's slower depending on the season. The management was great and it was a blessing to work there.

The Nevada Humane is one of the places I would not recommend to work at their concern seems to be more along the lines of money and less along the lines of the animals and employees
Cat Staff in Reno, NV
on July 16, 2021
During my time here I experienced hostility from upper management and specifically from HR. The people who are in charge are not on your side, do not trust them. There was constantly drama here whether it be between individual workers, or between entire departments leading to a lot of unnecessary problems, and even interfering with my ability to effectively do my job.On cat staff we were constantly low on supplies whether it be wet food, litter, or proper safety equipment to take care of kittens with ringworm. (Many nights my co-workers and I had to wear a trash bag over our clothes instead of the proper robing.)It was not uncommon during my time here to be scheduled on my shift all alone or with one other person to take care of the entire facility's cat population while also being expected to do a slew of other things that aren't even included in the job description. This would lead to rushed and inadequate care of the animals because there simply wasn't enough time in my shift to do everything expected of me.
Customer Service Representative in Reno, NV

Can be a very fun work environment. However, there is rampant hostility between departments. The upper management is greedy, dysfunctional, and out of touch with the shelter. They care more about money from donors than animal welfare.
Cat associate in Reno, NV

Working at NHS is a fulfilling experience. The employees all have one goal, caring and loving the animals. Upper management is fair to each individual. The human resource department takes employees concerns seriously and provides help when necessary.
