Sales Associate/Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Kissimmee, FLAugust 14, 2018
Making our guest feel welcome & feeling comfortable around our environment, also making sure they find what they came to look for in our store. I learned a lot about shoes as well as in liking to work in the work place.

Don’t knock until you try it
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Wichita, KSAugust 7, 2018
I worked as a part-time employee. Certain things came up and I had to sadly leave. With that being said there are certain things I would like to point out. The pay is great. The job is very relaxed, & fast paced at the same time. Be ready to get a lot of information thrown at you about the shoes, inserts, socks, etc that you are going to be trying to sell to customers. Retain it; it will only help you in the end. But don’t worry, everyone is helpful and will help you out along the way. You aren’t thrown to the wolves. I promise! If you are uncomfortable with upselling & trying to get people to buy items then this isn’t the job for you. You have to be outgoing and determined. Management at the NBO in Wichita is wonderful and so are the other employees that work there. Typical shifts are 10-7 11-7 or 12-7.
Pros
Pay, & Management
Cons
Lots of information to learn & retain to be a good seller

Free clothes and shoes
Developer (Current Employee) –  Lawrence, MAAugust 3, 2018
New Balance is a great place to work until you reach 55. Once you reach that age they look for ways to force you out of the company. Advancement is difficult lately if you are a man, most promotion have been going to women. As a full time team member associate for 10 years I've seen a lot of changes and most of them have worked.
Pros
Free clothes and shoes
Cons
Management doesn't see what's really going on

Hard workers get dumped on in favor of 'favorites'
Machine Operator/Assembler (Former Employee) –  Maine, MEAugust 3, 2018
This company pays well and has good benefits, but the majority of supervisors they employ are horrible, a couple probably shouldn't be in charge of anything. They seem to care only about giving advantage to favoritism and those who say the things they want to hear.
The quiet, hard workers who do quality work and come to work consistently and are dedicated to doing the best they can are the ones that get screwed over and taken advantage of, and not given the chances they deserve to move up to better jobs, instead, favoring personal favorites and ones are simply one of the good 'talker' types that cannot perform jobs well, or hiring outside people with no clue of operations. Very cutthroat if not a member of the 'family'.
They also nitpic those same honest, hard working employees for every imaginable little thing like putting your jacket on 5 minutes before the 3 o'clock buzzer or for clocking out at 3 on the timeclock despite the fact that the buzzer doesn't go off for various reasons.
Good work is never recognized but they do criticize every little thing, whether your fault or not. Most generally they blame someone for a particular issue rather than getting down to the root cause, the reason being is that they do not listen to the operators, only treating them with disrespect.
The production lines each have 4 team 'leaders' who essentially act like supervisor wanna-bes, who, instead of support employees, as is in their job descriptions , flock together with the supervisor and watch you work, plot against you, time you with a stopwatch, gossip and who knows
  more... what else.
The place is just a miserable place to overwork for a paycheck. They continually add more work to already busy, too fast paced jobs, and safety concerns take a backseat to production numbers, for example, instead of machines that raise and lower for people of different heights, they build and make you stand on wooden platforms if your too short to run a certain machine. The quality of work that comes to you from the material cutters is so horrible (nicked up parts and excessive material left on the parts, and often wrong sized parts) , it makes it near impossible to do your job in the fast time they expect it to be done in. And they do not address this issue although is causes numerous rework and bad shoes, not to mention stress on the machine operators.
Working here, you would never know this was a billion dollar company, and I would say the reason for that is the uncapeable management at the local level. Despite the good pay, benefits, and time off, the wear and tear on your joints from excessive operations at a breakneck speed, coupled with a lack of concern by management, this place is to be avoided as a place of employment if possible.

Fast/slow paced enviorment. Co workers are young and great with different personalities that make the day worth it.
Retail Team Lead (Former Employee) –  West Palm Beach, FLAugust 2, 2018
New Balance is a great place to work, especially for individuals that are coming from high school. Advancement is hard if you are not willing to relocate. As a full time team lead you do get to travel with the company and meet people from all over the us that works for new balance, making life long friends along the way. Hours are decent and you have a bit of free range on your management style, but getting the job done in the end is the goal. Easy job once you get the hang of it, stick with it and your skills will show and you might JUST MIGHT get a better opportunity within the company.
Pros
recieve bonuses for making our weeks/months
Cons
short breaks, micromanagement. Incompatitable management styles.

Slow and Fun job!
Retail Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Lutz, FLJuly 26, 2018
Slow paced environment with customer satisfaction being the number 1 priority. Usually would clean up the store or fix up shoes when no customers were entering the store, but usually when a customer comes in, the task is dropped and the customer is attended. Very easy, but can be stressful if the tasks aren't done properly or not done on time.
Pros
Slow paced, clean environment

typical day at New Balance
Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Brighton, MA 02135June 25, 2018
A typical day at New balance is I would clock in at 8 am and have a huddle meeting with the opening managers. Once the meeting is over we go to out sections an start putting the shoes away. Usually it takes about 45 mins or so to put the shoes away and the store opens at 9. Usually throughout the day there are 3 or 4 people in each section mostly on the weekends. As a sales associate you would help customers and talk to them and help them look for the sneakers that they need. A lot of customers come in with doctors notes with problems within their knee or foot, and we would help them find a shoe for that problem. The most difficult part is when I first started and not knowing what each sneaker was about or being able to help the customers needs. The most enjoyable part is being able to bond with my coworkers and learning more information about sneakers from their knowledge.
Cons
Barley any benefits for part timers

Challenging work with good people
Forklift Operator (Former Employee) –  Corona, CAJune 18, 2018
My day to day operations typically incorporated the following:
Maintain forklift equipment by troubleshooting breakdowns performing preventive maintenance recommending repairs and performing routine pre and post inspections
Sort, pack, wrap, and label products as per company procedures
Record information regarding movements of supplies materials and finished products

Other than that the people I met there were generally great to meet even though there was a high turnover rate.

Poor Management
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Kissimmee, FLJune 11, 2018
Very poor management at this location, no care for their associates (honestly), it feels dreadful to work here. Management doesn’t appreciate Associates, it’s all about management (their inner circle). They scream at the team leads and don’t appreciate Associates work. Would not recommend anyone to work here, unless you’re a fake person yourself to be honest.

Part Time Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 4, 2018
Working at NB was great for a first job. I learned a lot working in a NB store about the shoes and my own feet and what works best for me. They offered many opportunities to expand my career within the company. New balance is a very positive and great environment to work in.
