Exciting and engaging work to make a difference in the community

The majority of management was understanding and wanted to make a difference for their employees and the community. Even though the organization claims to be nonpartisan, the work environment was not always open-minded towards individuals with differing political views. If you don't mind talking with strangers and staying up to date with current civil liberty issues then this job is great for you.

Important mission and friendly people

Canvassing work is essentially what campaign staff have always done in the political arena; We just use different terminology now that these efforts have become so organized. And grassroots political work has always meant a long days, working in all weather and temporary employment. That said, if you know what you're getting into and don't have false expectations, this is an incredible place. The leadership is focused on the organization's very important mission, and if you invest yourself, this is an opportunity to have fun and make a positive impact. Hard work? Yes. Ambitious goals? You bet. But considering what some people have sacrificed for the right to vote, it's a cakewalk by comparison. I have also read some comments framing this organization as a partisan entity, but at the end of the day, registering people of color to vote should be a goal EVERYONE embraces. When we all vote, democracy works. Additionally, leadership I've met are very careful to conduct themselves ethically and ensure staff do not promote or endorse individual candidates.

Toxic

You have no work life balance. Pay is not equitable to the work load. Everyone is treated differently and depending on department the differences are vast! You are expected to eat, sleep and breath, New Georgia Project. It’s definitely a popularity contest which really brings school yard bullying to life.
