Lack of training

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Highly technical product, with a lot of product - specific training. Company didn't offer much sales-specific training. Room for improvement here, in my opinion.

Investing in your training

New Relic offers a dynamic environment for tech enthusiasts. They prioritize innovation and foster a collaborative culture. Employee growth is encouraged; however, it can be demanding.

What a joke

Hired 2 teams trained them then after less than a year let everyone go. Only to turnaround and post new jobs for a very similar position. The people they let go could do the inside sales job. They were already trained. What a waste of money and time. Just dumb. This company has gone down hill. They should be embarrassed.

Pros

Work from home

Cons

Whoever is running, his company should be fired. What a cluster f…

Great culture, smart people

Great culture that is actually lived by employees. Some recent hires not living up to the values. Leadership focus shifting more to shareholders interest higher than anything else.

Great pay, enjoyable work

I really enjoyed working for New Relic, everyone was very welcoming and happy to help me get started as an intern. The program had many events specifically to help interns get adjusted into the field. The pay was great too.

Perks didn't make up for management

The location and compensation were great. Very fast paced. Dedicated to creating a diverse culture. Not a lot of transparency with management. Upfront onboarding is great, but actual job training to acclimate to the organization is lacking.

Pros

kitchen stocked with snacks and very nice work space

Cons

management

Micromanagement and chaos

Company is in chaos. People are demotivated and burned out. Constantly being told we are not good enough but hard to know how to improve as leadership, priorities and vision changes frequently. Good leaders are often pushed out and replaced quickly. There is a very low morale right now and people are quietly laid off by being placed on PIPs so costs can be cut and new leaders can replace them with their own people. In the process, knowledge is lost and no one knows what is going on. Managers often have no accountability as there is no way to review them, and last culture survey reflected lack of trust in leadership. Right now people are stuck due to current economic climate. When conditions improve, people will leave. So many talented people are heavily micromanaged and leave, leaving only those that do what they are told. Leaders are unkind and uncaring, and often rude and disrespectful. Promotions happen based on favorite people and departments. Lots of expectations but no enablement and guidance. Most of the leadership is highly authoritarian and there are many unjust things happening to people in this company, due to poor leadership and hasty decisions, but no one is addressing toxic leaders. Their leadership principles are not followed, even by the company itself.

Finding their way in competitive market

Challenging maturing market but areas of growth opportunity still exist. The company cares about their people and diversity is not just a tagline. Innovation must keep pace and extend past the growing number of competitors / alternatives in the market.

Good

Was good till I was laid off. Liked the company and culture but was blindsided. Very nice people and nice to be remote working during the pandemic. Recommend

Fun place but a bit like high school

My marketing team was clicky. It got in the way when we all needed to collaborate. It was a bit like high school. Either you are "in" or you are "out"

Pros

Free coffee, great snacks

Cons

Product team drives the company, everyone else follows Revenue and marketing team have no say in product roadmap

Strong Corporate Culture and Values, but some tough downsides for me

In my 25+ year career, never had a better group of humans on my team. Company Core Values: Bold, Accountable, Authentic, Connected, Passionate are called out and on display as a norm. They walk the talk.My team had strong, skilled professionals willing to share their knowledge and collaborate at the drop of a hat. I was valued and appreciated for my contributions. Fantastic. My manager was the opposite experience: difficult to connect with, mismatched expectations, unwilling to allow my development beyond rudimentary tasks. I was constantly frustrated with the toil of my work vs the expectations set during the recruiting process. I could not overcome this disconnect. Disappointing.

innovative

NR was Wily 2.0. Founder had previous experience in this space so it was great to work for someone who already had a vision on how to build an enterprise company from the ground up again. This was key within divisions in engineering, marketing, support and sales.

A great place to be an intern

It was a great place to be an intern. I learned a lot about the different facets of marketing within the technology industry and how to leverage the strengths the company to appeal to new potential customers.

Professional and dependable work place

A lot of organizational and managerial changes but overall, New Relic is a wonderful company that treats employers well. A good place to start a long and fulfilling career.

Challenging and Accountable place to grow

New Relic is a place for the brave and disciplined. I learned that individuals that lack self-discipline are quickly identified, those that meet the rigorous yet rewarding daily life as a Relic can achieve professional cloud 9.

Be comfortable being uncomfortable

I think the company is doing great things and they have one of the top products on the market. They have all the free snacks, barista, occasional lunches and other perks you could ask for out of a San Francisco office. From my perspective if you got a good manager and territory you were set and if not then you drew the short end of the stick and would struggle. Expect all the growing pains of a start up.

Pros

Perks are nice they take care of you

Cons

Diversity and Inclusion is talked about but not acted upon

Sales Management

If your successful here its because they give you the leads to make the $$. Management thinks they have talent but they're just in a good situation and they'll never leave because they know they dont have any talent. Not fair at all. Work somewhere else, this "bro culture" isn't for women or normal SF citizens. Very very FAKE

Pros

Good Office View

Cons

No Commission & Fake "Bro" Sales Leaders

Most Awful Leadership

Managers put their egos before customers. Anyone that spoke up had seriously consequences. There was a severe female to female bullying problem that leadership was aware of and did nothing.

Pros

great product, great customer base

Cons

Management
