If you took 50 FDNY EMS workers and asked them each if they liked their job, you'd get a 50/50 split. The pay is terrible compared to the super high cost of living and taxes. The benefits are great, but having to stay on for 25 years is asking a lot of people who run more then 1.5 million EMS calls in The City That Never Sleeps. Great compensation, terrible education, worse administration

Don't believe the hype. You can make a decent living here, and get 100% paid for health benefits. The pros end there. No, FDNY is NOT the best trained. Not by a long shot. It's actually pretty pathetic how low the standards are here. Administration? Couldn't care less. Numbers numbers numbers. That's it.
