RDS automotive group knows how to treat employees fairly

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I worked at this dealership years before it was taken over by RDS, and their company culture was drastically different from the usual way an auto group treats their employees. The general manager of the dealership was a technician prior to his current position, so he understood that the service side of the dealership was just as important as the sales side, and improved the service shop greatly, and fixed and repaired many of the undue and neglected things that needed to be a productive shop, and if anything was wrong in the shop, management was quick to get it righted. They will have you attend the necessary training to advance your career as Nissan tech during slow periods of the year, giving you a rental car, hotel accommodation, and reimbursement for meals and gas during your training participation. Co-workers and management there are very harmonious with each other, so everyone gets along with each other. They have the usual benefits of health, eye, and dental benefits through a unlikeable insurance company, and a 401k. Due to the relatively small size of the employee count of the entire auto group, there's plenty of extra benefits to employees. You can attend events at their more prestigious dealerships and outings, along with getting to enjoy the great employee only facilities at Porsche Main Line. RDS really do take care of employees. I only left there because it was still a Nissan dealership at the end of the day, and I don't have a high opinion of Nissans.

Pros

Free lunches on Saturday, co-workers, management

Cons

Health, dental, and eye benefits

Good place for having good coworkers around you, but not great for moving up.

For the time that i have worked there, the coworkers and managers are very reasonable and nice. Work is not too difficult but can be a pain sometimes. Everyone there likes to help out when they can and are very respected. I however didn't like how they treated new mechanics that had just got out of school, as if they had no prior experience and pushes the new mechanics around. I have found that moving up as a mechanic is very difficult and in my case, impossible.

Pros

Discount on any parts, and the coworkers are respectable

Cons

Very difficult to move up if you had schooling
