Overall, our employees are engaged and feel like the company has a family atmosphere. This is a heavy manufacturing environment, and your experience will vary greatly by what you will be doing. We have many positions, from IT to Metallurgist to Production employees, as well as many others. To be fair, the experience at any company would vary and is typically influenced by one’s view of the world. In relation to the prior comment, we are hopeful that they are raising their concerns so that we can address them.
The future of NLMK USA is very bright. We have a good parent company that is confident in how the USA assets are managed and wants to invest in us. Currently, we have major capital being spent to upgrade key aspects of our facilities. There are always market conditions that can negatively or positively affect what is happening, however, those are short term considerations.
NLMK USA has three production sites in Pennsylvania and Indiana. Depending on the site, the starting pay would be between $15.69 and $18.27 per hour. Additionally, incentive plans are being launched / have been launched, and we have great benefits.
Why are you always looking for maintenance personnel? It seems you always have an ad running looking for electricians and millwrights. Do you have an extremely high turnover? If so why?

The interview process varies, depending on what type of position we are talking about. For salary positions, there is always an in-person interview designed to understand your professional history and how you work. For hourly positions, there is typically one in-person interview that is preceded by the testing process. For any position, the general approach is the same – we want to understand you and how you fit with us as a company and the position you are seeking.
Although we do not disclose what we specifically ask during an interview, please know that we will not expect you to talk about anything you have not done already. Just come and be yourself. Even more importantly, come prepared with your questions for us as we believe it must be a good fit for both the company and yourself.
The interview is a great opportunity to see if there is an overall fit – so, bring your questions! It is always good to hear from someone who is genuinely curious and wants to make sure it fits for them as well vs. simply giving answers that sound good.
As far as the concern with the hours mentioned above, every job is different from a working hours perspective and we strive to make the best fits possible. There are no secrets here and we welcome all your questions to fully understand the working conditions.
Due to the fact that all of our sites are operational 7 days a week 24 hours a day, it really depends on the specific line you are hired into and the demand from our customers. It can range from 5 days to 7 days and with 40 hours on up. On average, our guys have been working around 20% overtime or an extra shift every week.
It depends on the specific location. Generally speaking, for our hourly positions, the probationary period is approximately 90 days. Health benefits typically start as soon as the probationary period is over.
Honestly, that is a very unusual question as it normally doesn’t matter to anyone not using drugs. We do not answer these types of questions.
The work pace varies greatly, based on multiple factors such as the nature of work, type of position, situation on the steel market, etc. Overall, we can say that NLMK USA has a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
