Beautiful Location

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Gateway Canyons Resort is a beautiful location with some really interesting guests. I struggled here under the new GM as he placed his horse-loving wife in the spa who doesn't like people. Although she was nice I overheard her actively encouraging a guest to not come to the spa and as a commission-based employee who drove an hour one way to work it was really frustrating. The previous spa director was an outstanding manager who made working there fun and lucrative. The spa facility is spectacular with spacious treatment rooms and great spa products.

Pros

Beautiful Location with excellent trails nearby.

Terrible lack of Executive Support

Stay far away... Executive leadership team is lost & completely unable to fix the vast multitude of problems at the resort. You will be lied to in the application proccess & told to deal with it upon arrival. Location is extremely desolate, support for employees is nonexistent, and will be forced to answer for the resort's many problems with no solutions offered by the general manager or executive team.

You are treated like family

It was one of the most memorable and amazing times in my life. Upper management and facilities alike were top notch. No team is perfect but we were a well oiled machine.

Pros

Most beautiful place in the US

Cons

Far from big cities

Terrible

Do not work for them they care nothing about the employees. Management are there for them only. Admin does not know at all and cares not to. No team or family like as they promote they are. One of the worst experiences of my life.

A sinking ship

This resort used to be an amazing place to work at. Unfortunately, bad leadership ran away the people that where dedicated and passionate. There are still some good people there; but they’re holding the place together with duct tape

Bad work place at palisade ranch

Staff doesn’t train you at all. New management is unprofessional and unfair to staff. They don’t respect there workers. Horses are well behaved and good on trails. The ranch is run down. No potential. Needs lots of work and will fire you at end of season so you don’t get your bonus. Even when you work hard.

Cons

No Health care. No time off.

Beautiful Place Horrible bosses

The Resort and Property are amazing. The problem was the General Manager, HR, and FOM. Since day 1 when I meet them they had attitude problems and seemed to just innately dislike me. Over time the tension in our relationship got worse and eventually it just felt like the entire management team hated me and were just try to find little things to fire me over. Ended up quitting before they got an excuse to fire me. I got along amazingly well with the other co-workers and but the Front Office Manger, General Manager, and HR lady absolutely hated me (For reasons I still don't know). Overall would recommend but work in F&B or Landscaping witht he nice people the FOM and supervisors are not nice!

Good housing, great area

My time at Gateway Canyons was an amazing experience. The area is absolutely beautiful to go out and explore, and the activities were fantastic and fun to take part in. I would highly recommend Gateway to any person who is up for exploring, having fun with so many outdoor activities, and to relax and enjoy the surrounding areas.

Very Nice Work Place

Working at Gateway Canyons would be a pleasure for anybody who loves the Great Outdoors! People here are really nice and very friendly we treat each other like family and everybody tries to help with a smile.

Cons

Isolating and terribly managed property

I have never worked at a place that was so disorganized and abusive to their employees. The manager that hired me that was supposed to train me quit the first week I was there. There was no accountable leadership, and I had to figure out everything myself. The hiring process was a nightmare as I received no direction either. I stayed in employee housing that was supposed to be two people for every 2 bedroom/bathroom apartment. They didn't have enough rooms, so they smashed two more people into our apartment. Terrible conditions at work and at the housing.

Pros

none

Cons

Everything

I learned about independence and responsibility

This hotel has 5 food outlets and I was assigned at 2 of these. Everyday, I work at the poolside restaurant and I work at a food truck during the regular employee's day off. I was also often called in to work at another outlet to be trained. It was amazing because out of all the interns, I was the only one who got to work in all five. I learned how to be independent and responsible. Handling two outlets is no joke. I need to make sure that I got all the foods and prepare them to the executive chef's preferences. The management here is really great. They take care of all their employees even if they are working part-time, or internships. The hardest part of the job was working long hours. My most enjoyable part was celebrating those long hours with my co-workers.

Pros

Apartment is within resort property, free lunches

Fun and beautiful place to work

You meet someone new everyday here from somewhere beyond Colorado and you get to hear some amazing tales as well. The staff and managers are super friendly and really try to help each other to do better.

Pros

Beautiful views out any and all windows

Cons

Really hot in the summer and to much snow in the winter

Fun, Culturally diverse work enviroment

I enjoy working at the Resort. Other staff is from all over the world, providing a great cultural experience. I am satasfied with staff housing. Unfortunately most jobs here are seasonal. Don't count on working here year round. Overall a very good place to work, and live. Its remote, but some people are not looking for the big city life anyway, It's one of the most scenic places I've ever lived.

Most productive Kitchen I have ever worked for.

An amazing place to work. Worked banquets. Typicall day at work is coming in and finding out what banquets we have to get ready for while setting up and doing prep for the next upcoming event. The hardest part of my job would be learning to create resort quality dishes and preparing them in a resort quaility manner. The most enjoyable part of my job was the people I worked for and worked with directly, I have honestly never worked for people who truly valued the word TEAM.

Pros

awsome place to work and great managers. deffinetely an experience i wont forget.

Cons

its out in gateway. too far.
