Steady work

Great pay ,flexible schedule ,gets a little boring waiting around for a run when it's slow ,other than that it's a pretty good part time job. Can make some good $ but must be ok with driving a lot.

Great Pay

The pay is great at $32/hr plus standby pay of $50 if you receive no call. The driving can become a bit much, with having calls come back to back sometimes.

Satisfying work

Being part of the behind-the-scenes organ and tissue donation process is a rewarding experience. NORA is a respected organization locally and throughout the country. Great people in the organization, including fellow drivers.

Rewarding, fun, great balance!

I love Nora for so many reasons but mostly because of the people and the mission. We get to talk to people from around the country every day and assist with the transport of life-saving supplies, people and organs! I feel appreciated and cared for by the organization. We have excellent health coverage that is 100% employer paid, We work 3 days on and then have 3 days off which has given me more free time than any other job I've ever had! The hours can be long and sometimes stressful but overall it is rewarding and the days off to de-stress are amazing. We are salary but also get paid overtime and there are lots of opportunities for overtime. Nora only promotes from within so it's a great place to work if you are looking to work your way up! I am very happy here.

They have kind of lost their way as an Industry Leader

NORA partners with individual state organization that are charged with managing transplant cases within a particular state. NORA has lost their way, probably because they are getting too big too fast. As a driver, I have received feedback from doctors and other medical professional who have given input that the caliber of drivers seems to be different than in the past and that there seems to be high turnover. If things don't improve, I will be leaving. Slow down and get it right ! It starts by filling the positions with people who care about the big picture.

Pros

Pay when it is busy.

Cons

Pay when it is slow.

Toxic environment, inexperienced management

This has to be the worst place I’ve ever worked. Management is inexperienced and unprofessional. No job security. People are let go for no reason. It’s very sad because the mission is very positive but it is executed so poorly. Almost zero training. No work-life balance. You’re expected to be available for work on your days off and they regularly try to pressure people to work 18-20 hour shifts. The culture on the dispatch floor is toxic and many managers are intolerant and inappropriate. You’ll quickly learn that very few people have been here a year or more. Save yourself a lot of time and stress by avoiding this place.

Pros

Free lunch Friday, fair compensation

Cons

No training, toxic management, high stress, no job security

Zero Leadership

The mission is rewarding, but the company is a complete joke. The leadership is non-existent and you are nothing but a number, period, full stop. Lots of far better options out there. By the way, it appears almost all of these reviews have been planted by management.

Pros

Rewarding Mission

Cons

Leadership and company culture.

Grueling schedule while on duty (24 hr. on call), but super flexible

Monthly schedule known well in advance. Part time work averaged 5-10 days a month. Bad part is the 24 hr on call schedule. Once you get a call, you could be gone on the road for 4-12 hours. You could get called in early too, or stay late beyond your 24 hr. shift ending. Super busy work at times, other times super slow.

Pros

Great vehicles to drive, great pay. On call pay

Cons

Supervisors are super micro managers, Dispatchers often new and unknowledgeable with lots of turnover.

The management understands how challenging this job can be and gives us time off if we need it.

Our job is extremely important and I love team work. I love working with incredibly important surgeons and Transmedic Pump technicians, It was a very rewarding job. It was also a very demanding and challenging job. We were on call for 24-48 hours at a time. We were not paid for all of those hours. We were only paid when we received a case. I loved being part of a team that helped a family receive a new organ and a new lease on life.

Team Spirit

Most of my fellow employees are retired police, firefighters or EMS... the spirits are positive with that "Can Do" attitude that encourages you to be your best.I was a Combat Navy Corpsman, firefighter, Dive Rescue and pretty much everything associated with saving lives. This is a Family

Can be feast or famine depending on how busy you are

Even the supervisor admitted during the interview that your paycheck can vary quite wildly depending on how many days you take and how busy you are. This is it in a nutshell. If you take a lot of shifts and you’re busy on most of your shifts it pays well, but if you’re not busy the paycheck will be kind of slim. There’s a stipend for each day you’re either primary or secondary driver, but it’s not much.

Rewarding

You are giving someone else another chance at life. This job is very rewarding in that someone is donating their organs or tissue so that others may live. By being a driver, you are a part of that experience.

Fun, Fast Growing Company with an Accepting Enviroment

Working at NORA is a simultaneously unique and thrilling experience. No day is exactly the same, although strong training paired with standardized guidelines creates a strong, bounded experience that allows quick and effective personal growth.

Pros

Free Lunch Friday, Health Insurance, Work/Life Balance

Applying not advised

Where to begin.. My time at NORA was unpleasant to say the least, along with many others who’ve had their reviews on here removed, with management asking employees to post positive reviews and looking into internet companies to wipe reviews instead of fixing the multitude of glaring issues inside the company. Good employees are treated as dispensable and overloaded with work while a small group have wormed their way into getting away with anything. Clear favoritism have caused many to leave the company and no signs of changing in sight despite numerous people informing management of all the issues.

Pros

Helping people

Cons

Management, Ceo, work load, no assistance, office drama

Great TEAM to be apart of!

I have been a driver for NORA for the past 3 years and this is a great retirement position. My wife will tell anyone, it is a perfect fit for me. I get to meet interesting people when transporting teams or individuals. As a bonus, I have time to ponder life, past, present and what the future may hold. What we do is amazing, saving lives!! The logistics to make a transplant successful is mind blowing and NORA has a key role in the process. I have been told numerous times by the individuals that we transport that they could not do their jobs without us. WOW!! Makes me proud of to be part of the NORA team and what we do.I have a great supervisor that is always available if there is an issue. We get to choose our working schedule for the upcoming month with no pressure to work xx number of days. If for some reason something comes up that prohibits you from working a shift, other team members step up and fill in. We all know unplanned, unannounced things pop up. That is life. We are often extremely busy and we can count on our other regions stepping in to help as well and we will do the same. That is TEAM work!

Pros

Flexable schedule, Great Team members. Everyone has your back.

Cons

None

Great place to work and grow

Working for NORA has been both a rewarding and fulfilling job for me. This job does have its hard days, but it is also a wonderful place to work even on the busiest of them. The company is constantly growing and expanding to new regions, and new positions have been created numerous times since I’ve started here. In terms of the work itself, I actually enjoy coming to work and having the opportunity to not only be a part of something bigger, but also work with some truly amazing staff and providers all across the United States.

Pros

Free lunches, free healthcare, good amount of time off

Awesome JOB

I've been with NORA for 10 months now, Honestly it is a awesome job. You are integrated with Hospital Staff, Security Folks, and the LCNW Recovery Crews. You meet folks from all walks of the Medical Field. As a First Responder this is the other side of the coin for me that shows what life gives after we die, so others may live. Like any job hours are hours, they could be set hours or on call hours, none the less it's a job and a rewarding job for me. The pay is great and the managers are awesome and understanding on and when things come up. Like any job as long as you keep everyone in the Loop on what you are doing and how you are doing, you can never go wrong. It's what you make of it and how you proceed on the job at hand, it is the reward at the end of the run, knowing that with what you are doing are saving lives upon lives upon lives. I can honestly say, I am 110% Happy for what I do and who I work with.

Pros

Rewarding, It's a Job, and the Pay is great.

Cons

None at this time.

Nora

NORA is overall a great place to work, I honestly enjoy coming to work (I don't dread it like other jobs I've had). The 12 hour shifts are long, but when you only work 3 days on at a time, it's worth it to have that extra time off. It's a smaller company so you do get to become close like family with (most of) your coworkers. We are technically (also) in the healthcare industry even though we just do transportation, we work with dozens of hospitals/facilities and get to help with the organ donation process, which is pretty cool. It's a very rewarding position and you work with facilities/drivers from all over the US. Sometimes in dispatch we do get very busy, but luckily it's all handled with ease and professionalism - for the most part. You MUST be able to multitask and be detail oriented, it will benefit YOU.The training process was difficult when I started, I feel like I did not get the proper training that I needed and was kind of thrown to fend for myself. Though I have heard that the new hire training is more in depth and detailed as of late.Unfortunately, as of right now, there does not seem to be much room for advancement opportunities. But maybe once we hire more dispatchers and continue to grow, those opportunities will arise. The health benefits are wonderful as the company pays for the employee but any additional dependents would cost you an arm and a leg. Annual raises and bonuses on top of our salary are nice surprises. Being able to have a flexible work schedule (able to trade shifts and accrue PTO) is a perk as well.

Pros

work-life balance, free lunch Fridays, 1 hour breaks, insurance

Cons

May be required to work overnights/weekends/holidays (it's a 24 hour operation!)
