46 questions about Hiring Process at Nordstrom
Over the phone then face to face
Answered January 4, 2017
Process was about 2 weeks... started on the career site, selected the position I wanted to apply for (you may want to apply for more than one as sometimes jobs are still posted even though they have candidates being interviewed and are close to making an offer so it’s not really available). About 3 days later I got a call from the assistant manager of the dept and came in for an interview, that went well sent a thank you note (ask for their card it’s a small nicety that’s going away but makes you stand out), several days later I was called and offered a second interview with the department manager, that too went well, (another thank you note!), about 5 days after that the manager called me for a third interview with the GM of the store, which went well after which I sat with HR and was formally offered the position. About two weeks total, if you’re applying during one of the job fairs or a seasonal position, the process may be different this was for a full time permeant position.

Phone interview and then in person. I heard from employee over there that they prefer to hire men for visual merchandising because they think men can only handle the ladders, lift 50lbs or more and build fixtures. They are wrong, I been in this field for over 20 years and I’m female who can handle all of it. Nordstrom is sexist. If all female wonder why they can’t in it’s because of that.

I currently work from 5 to close because I have a full-time job. Of course, I was a full-time employee before my hours were reduced because I took the full-time job. I suspect they allowing me to work those hours is, in part, due to my manager.

Yes if you have discussion with your department manager what your situation is as to why you need set schedule but inky time you will get overtime is if you are a manager or assistant manager. At most I got 32 hours which for retail is considered part time.

They do not look at credit as means to hire. Your DUI will not affect your eligibility to be hired. Only if it was violent crime and/or theft of any type, Nordstrom will not hire you.
