Used to be good. Now just another company.
Mobile Technician (Former Employee) - Arlington, TX - October 31, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWas a very good job at first, until they brought in corporate people that reduced every employee to a series of numbers. I spent 4 years working for them, six days a week, only for these people, that I have never met, to come in and say "not good enough. Youre a bad employee." Working late nights to finish jobs, taking care of customers, traveling to different cities to cover shortages, none of it mattered. What mattered, apparently, was i missed some sort of goal by 3 points. The sense of absolute betrayal is indescribable.
Pros
Independence
Cons
Youre not a mechanic, youre a salesman.

Great Company
Manager (Current Employee) - Dallas-Fort Worth, TX - March 28, 2023
Has been a great experience. Great team, great culture and the product is awesome. Way better customer experience than going to a shop and it never gets old hearing how great we are from the customers. Techs can earn a lot of money if they have initiative and good work ethic.

Good company culture
Inside Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Austin, TX - March 11, 2023
Good company culture, unfortunately with the economic downturn they are constantly downsizing. Never worked for a company where the customers are constantly praising you and barely any complaints. Great PTO/sick time policy and very understanding of personal needs.

Great product
Operations Team (Current Employee) - Texas - February 10, 2023
The services offered by Nubrakes are without a doubt a huge improvement from the traditional automotive shop experience. The team of technicians at NuBrakes are driven and do high-quality work. There is a great group of people working at Nubrake that care about the company. It is a culture that supports a good work-life balance and the benefits and PTO are great. Like a lot of startups, you will need to be adaptable and flexible to thrive at Nubrakes but the work and the people are fun.
Pros
Awesome people, Great product, Good Benefit
Cons
none

Fast-paced and doing things the right way
Operations (Current Employee) - Remote - January 13, 2023
Having been in the automotive industry almost 20 years, what struck me most was NuBrakes fair and honest approach to car care and the desire to break the mold from industry stereotypes. We work to help customers do the repairs they need at the time of their appointment...and let them know what they can expect down the road and when to call us back. It's a rewarding, fast-paced environment and hard work is definitely rewarded and does not go unnoticed.

Horrible Company, Stay Away
Technician (Former Employee) - Houston - December 18, 2022
Company is awful, from the CEO all the way down to Managers. A start up company with no automotive repair experience which makes the highly experienced Technician set up for failure. Total lack of communication between departments. They promise you a service area to work in since it is mobile automotive repair, but once hired on they will send you way out of your service area in rush hour traffic. They honestly do not care if your out till 9:00 at night. They want you to work 80hrs a week for 30hrs pay. They add same day jobs so your running back and forth getting parts way out of the way 90% of the time. They expect the technician to fix all the problems in the field that sales and Management department creates. The pay is horrible on top of all the rest. They Say they are not an "upselling" company but have guidelines they want technicians to sell so many jobs per appointment. Stay away from this company.

Great work life balance and benefits, mediocre everything else
Team Lead (Former Employee) - San Antonio, TX - September 21, 2022
This place is your bog standard startup environment to be honest as far as culture is concerned. Benefits are awesome, very understanding for PTO and sick days etc. I had a great manager while I was there, who was however overworked and underappreciated. Work from home option is great, they provide all equipment including desk, chair, multiple monitors etc if needed. You have a lot of responsibilities and not enough time to do anything about some of them or else you will be working off the clock. They are constantly downsizing the company and if it's not you to get laid off this round, you will be absorbing some of the responsibilities from the people who were with no extra pay. Upper management is disorganized, inefficient, and some of them have never done the job and don't recognize certain roadblocks that are an obvious pain point, although to their credit if you make enough noise about something it usually gets changed. I understand layoffs happen especially in an early startup, however they way they go about it is very unprofessional in my opinion and soured what was left of an already failing reputation in my eyes. There is no job security here, if they need to raise funding and investors say they want less overhead anyone can be on the chopping block regardless of your KPIs/previous performance or seniority.

Good environment for sales
Technician (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - September 1, 2022
Good for young, learning techs, more sales dependent for the “good” money. Strictly mobile based, use your own phone for business. Customers have technicians personal contact.

Great concept, better execution.
Service Technician (Former Employee) - Orlando, FL - August 29, 2022
Nu brakes was a ok company while I was there. Communication between departments is a major issue. Due to the Communication issues it causes paycheck discrepancies , scheduling issues etc. some days will be really frustration dealing with bad communication and the lack of accurate information on the job site.

Remote work as Support, as technician, everything needed is provided.
Technician/Support (Former Employee) - Remote - August 28, 2022
Was a good place to work, laid off without warning was my only complaint. Management was accommodating to work/life schedule, and compensation was fair.

Jobs at NuBrakes Mobile Brake Repair
Great place to work
Technician/Trainer (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - June 7, 2022
Good - Company supplies a great vehicle to work out of, weekly meetings, and a great support team. Bad - Part’s availability, and correct parts ordered. When this happens it not only effects our ability to arrive on time it also effects our customers.

Amazing coworkers and supervisor, terrible pay and commission rate, extreme expectations
Inside Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - June 2, 2022
Amazing company culture with lots of assistance any time you need along with amazing coworkers. Great work/life balance. Weekly base pay was a plus too. Hard to receive a promotion or a raise(s) no matter how much you improve, terrible and unfair commission rate for your work/effort and you wont receive your commission until the end of the month, constant change in commission structure, no job security (16% of the company was just laid off), if you aren't the best of the best then you'll be put on a 90 day performance improvement plan (PIP) and fired even if you've hit your goals or improve in any way. There's high and low peak hours (customer booking intent) unfairly distributed among employees, top earners get the peak hours while anyone scheduled the low peak hours are still expected to meet the same goals/numbers as top earners. Overall, in terms of sales, great company to work for if you want to get started in sales but don't get high expectations. There was an amazing team atmosphere when I started over 1 year ago but it has now became/becoming very cut throat.
Pros
Coworkers, work/life balance, insurance, weekly pay
Cons
Commission rate/structure, raises, unfair peak hours, etc.

Tough work but the pay is good.
Detailer (Former Employee) - 937 Reinli Street - November 19, 2020
Its a tough work environment especially if it's just you. But you can make tour own schedule and pay is pretty good if you are fast. Customers are mostly nice it too picky. But you are a contractor.
Pros
Make your schedule, no weekends
Cons
Hot, cold, and your on a W 4
